GTA5
« on: April 14, 2015, 08:59:24 AM »
Someone had to bring up a thread about it since released on PC last night....

After playing GTA4, this one looks better already.  First act of violence once the game started was kicking a cat, followed by the gun shop, and then the strip club.  Soon off to the golf club to put in a quick nine.  I better win the round or someone is getting a club over the head!

What's the take from anyone who have played the console and PC version?
My rig runs solitaire on ultra high resolution!

Did you play it already?  How's performance?  What's your specs and settings in game?  I am debating whether to get this or not.

Played about an hour last night with the default specifications.  This was only because I just wanted to try it after the long 3 and a half hour download (59GB).  The game was very smooth and visually clean.  The rig is I5 quad core from a few years back, 12 gb ram, Geforce 770, SS hybrid drive for the game location and SSD for the OS drive.

I didn't start any missions last night.  It was more of a run around the city for a while so I am not so sure how well the game performs when all the madness breaks loose.

The option to play first or third person was very welcome since a large portion of previous popular games have been FPS.

Not sure if the other GTA games had a gentlemens club, but I got to say it was a bit surprising how far the developers went. I got kicked out of the club from touching too much!

It is optimized extremely well. I can run it full tilt on my 680 and it looks and plays awesome. Leagues above what GTA4 was at launch.

Yeah, bought it today and ran the benchmark after setting res to 1080p....max 180fps min 150fps. I haven't tweaked any settings other than res but I think I'm ok with this.

I spent at LEAST 20 min in the game.... watching TV. Then I went for a long drive. That map is HUGE.

It's optimized pretty well so it should run on hardware that is a little older.

I am glad they learned from their mistakes with GTA4. I only really suffer frame rate loss when I am up in the hills.

The only complaint I have so far is Online is a bit weird. Decepticon, Petch, and I tried to get in the same events but had a really difficult time.

I had a time when I was in a race and it crashed to desktop during the middle of it. :(

I've only had to kill it when I tabbed out and someone decided to watch me play. My guess is it was the steam overlay being a jerk.

I finally played tonight with fragout and haggard.  It was awesome and some random player gave me 9,700,000.
