2015 Releases
« on: January 19, 2015, 02:39:04 PM »
This year looks to be a pretty good one when it comes to PC gaming. I thought I would try to start a discussion by posting a list of my most anticipated PC games that are scheduled to be released in 2015. The list is in no particular order.

Tom Clancy’s The Division
TBA
We've probably all seen the trailer by now. It should be an amazing squad play game if they can pull it off.

Hunt: Horrors of the Gilded Age
TBA
Think of this as a third-person L4D. Spooky stuff right?

Dungeon Defenders 2
TBA (EA available)
The first one was awesome. I loved jumping in a party with my buds and planning out strategies for this FPS/Tower Defense game. The second one looks to be all the same with much more added on. Highly recommended when it drops.

Killing Floor 2
TBA
Just like the first one but higher level caps, more realistic weapons, insane rag doll physics, etc..

Overwatch
TBA
Blizzard's version of TF2. Looks OK. Should be nice to move on since TF2 is beat as hell. It's time to move on.

Evolve
February 10
4v1 FPS where hunters battle a Monster in a game of cat and mouse. Some Crapty things have happened recently with DLC for this game and the community will most likely die out in a year because of it but I still have my hopes up high (mostly because I already pre-ordered like an idiot).

TOXIKK
TBA (Beta on January 22)
Spiritual successor to the UT franchise while we wait for the actual successor. Even though Quake is better than UT in just about every way possible, it seems like Reflex (its spiritual successor) will not be finished this year. TOXIKK will hopefully hold us over nicely.

Star Wars Battlefront
October
No explanation needed here.

Shadow Realms
TBA
4v1 RPG. Sounds good to me

Lost Ark
TBA
It's like a much much better looking Diablo 3. Only info is in Korean right now but they have said that they are planning on bringing the game to NA once it is completed.

Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number
Q1
Hotline Miami is amazing. It's fast paced and bloody with an awesome soundtrack. There were no plans to make a sequel but the fans cried out for one and the devs listened. This will be the last one but they were nice enough to put in a level editor this time around. Steam Workshop anyone?

Starcraft 2: Legacy of the Void
TBA
I don't play Starcraft anymore and I have no interest in picking it back up again BUT I do enjoy watching tournaments every once in a while. This expansion is overdue.

Toy Soldiers: War Chest
TBA
Action/RTS/Tower Defense game where you play as toys protecting your chest or whatever.

SOMA
TBA
Did you like getting the Crap scared out of you in Amnesia and Penumbra? Then this is your type of game.

Decay: The Mare
February
A horror point and click. The first two episodes were released last year and were pretty good. I'm looking forward to finishing up the trilogy this year. Should appear on Steam at some point soon too.

Resident Evil HD Remaster
January 20
RE1 was one of the highlights of my childhood when it comes to gaming and it is IMO one of the best(if not the best) in the long series that is Resident Evil.  AFAIK, this is a remake of a remake but it will be nice to have those textures in hi-res.

Ori and the Blind Forest
TBA
Lots of platformers come out every year. Most are Crap. Will this one be different? I don't know. I love the art style though.

Project Cars
March 17
Shiny shiny cars. The graphics are outstanding and the sim experience is supposedly on par with iRacing (if you play it on PC  8)).

Road Redemption
Q1
Holy Crap did I love Road Rash. Slim Jim 4 Lyfe. While RR isn't an official sequel, many of the early access reviews claim that it is a spiritual successor. Also, the EA crowd have very little complaints so far and say that the game is a blast to play in it's current state. That's always a good sign these days where PC gaming in swimming in a sea of EA Crap where very few games actually are worth the money they charge.

The Division is one of my top 5 reasons to upgrade my GPU this year.  Can not wait for that one....as long as it lives up to the hype.  I am on a pre-order strike for a while so I will certainly be waiting for reviews on all games this year.

I did purchase EA for Road Redemption.  I was also an avid road rash fan and got this based on that alone.  It is funtastic for a while, but right now plays mostly like an arcade game with it's upgrade system. Can't wait for multiplayer!
That's Mr. Deception to you.

I picked up the Resident Evil HD Remaster. For $20 you can't beat that, I still have the old PS1 version that was released on the PC. Always wanted to play the remake on the Gamecube but never had one of those. Now since they are releasing it again in HD resolution; I think I should actually try to beat it. Would love it if Capcom would release RE2 and RE3 in a HD remaster. That would be an absolute epic. And did I mention if you pre order it you get a walkthrough guide? Which is a good thing considering that game is so deep and with awesome replay value.

I really want The Division to happen and be amazing. I really do. But....

It's Ubisoft. This is the same company that has blundered so much recently they took over the title of "Most hated publisher" away from EA. And I thought that would be impossible. The game looks so great, but I don't want some FPS locked, lowest common console denominator version that is just a crappy port that happens to come out on release day. Remember, this game started as console only and was only given a PC option after the pc gaming community spoke up... and then Watchdogs happened.

Like Decepticon said, no pre-orders for me.

This list is expansive, and really good. I'm looking forward to quite a few of the titles on this list. Nice compilation, Twins.
Eventually something cool will go in here. It's a matter of time.

I'm having a blast with this so far. It still creeps me out to this day. I will say that I am extremely disappointed in the new voice actors. Still just as cheesy as the 96 version but It would have been better if they just reused the audio. Also, why is there no Live Action opening? That part was awesome! The new one sucks ass. Oh well. Game looks slick as hell.

It's almost mid-year so let's go through the list I compiled back in January to see where everything stands right now. I'm only going to write a few words on each game since it would take me way too long to go in depth.

Still Unreleased as of 5/18/2015
Tom Clancy's The Division - This game has just been delayed again. The longer we wait, the more I prepare myself to be disappointed by it when it finally does release. I don't trust UbiCrap to make a well rounded game. I cannot put it down though since It hasn't released yet and there isn't much out there in terms of game breaking news. Continue to keep eyes open but prepare yourself for disappointment IMO. Hopefully I am wrong about this one.

Hunt: Horrors of the Gilded Age - Honestly have no clue about this one. I know it is still unreleased and it is going to be a F2P. I'll continue to watch out for it but it's not on the top of my hype list.

Overwatch - This game is now scheduled for closed beta in late 2015. They release new info and videos every few weeks and it looks pretty good so far. I have mixed feelings about it. I like that it will essentially be going for the TF crowd since that game is long overdue for death IMO but I don't really like to guzzle Blizzard wiener like a lot of others do. I'll play the game when it comes out because why not (also I have several friends that will probably go hard too) but I'm not stuck to my monitor awaiting new updates on the game.

Star Wars Battlefront - I have never had my hype for a game drop so far and fast as it did for this one. The hype went from overdrive to nonexistent in a matter of 3-4 day. It was really amazing actually. Just one bad announcement/move after another. There are so many disappointing things in this game that I'm gonna skip listing them. You can find them easily anyway. One of the more sad/funny things involved a dev telling a potential buyer that he should basically Fudge off and buy a second computer  if he wants to play split-screen with his wife. He deleted that tweet pretty quick. You make your own decisions but I would recommend that you don't bother with this one unless mediocre is your thing and you enjoy games meant for the sole purpose of cashing in and ruining dreams.

Lost Ark - They are launching the closed beta in Korea later this year. There are still plans on bringing this to the western world if the game plays well but it probably won't be until late 2016 at the earliest. Game is super super pretty though. I am absolutely keeping this on my long term watch list.

Starcraft 2: Legacy of the Void - This expansion went into close beta testing on 3/31. Not really following this as I don't play SC anymore but I know some of you do/did so I figured I would keep it in the mix even though it's a personal list.

Toy Soldiers: War Chest - Not really much info on this one. Still slated to come out sometime in 2015. Keep an eye out.

Released as of 5/28/2015 (Early Access and Beta Access Included
Dungeon Defenders 2 - I bought in to this one the second I heard they were selling council seats for $20. The game will eventually be F2P (as of right now) but you have to ability to cough up some dosh to participate in the pre-alpha and give feedback to help shape the final product. The game was very polished and I was impressed. They have made loads of improvements since then and even though the game is still technically pre-alpha, it plays almost like a finalized product. It definitely does not feel 100% like DD1; however, I like the changes they made. As of right now, I highly recommend that you continue to keep your eye on this one

Killing Floor 2 - This bad boy went on sale through Steam on 4/21 (Early Access). The game is super polished right now. It has a very limited number of maps/weapons/perks/etc...but still has a ton of appeal in its current state. I paid $30 for my copy and had so much fun that I ponied up another $30 for a friend of mine that would have never bought the game on his own (He enjoys it). As of right now, I not only recommend keeping your eye on it but also picking it up if you are interested at all in this game. It's worth the money in its current state IMO and it only contains a small percentage on the final product. (Bonus that KF is a LAN favorite. I have super high hopes for KF2 in this regard too now)

Evolve - What a complete disappointment. This game left a taste similar to dog Crap in my mouth (or what I'd imagine dog Crap to taste like). When first announced, this game had literally everything that we wanted. It sounded soooo good. Then the retarded started to creep in. The final product basically looked like a console kiddies playground. Fudge that right? Best part was that I couldn't even play the final product. That right...could not play it. Didn't support my resolution (3440x1440 at the time). They were aware of the problem during the beta and said it would be fixed before release...straight from the devs mouth. Well guess what...NOPE! They then had the nerve to delete all their tracks and claim that they never said that and they had to go buy another monitor to fix it?????? What? Gave it two weeks and then did a charge back (Thanks AMEX).

TOXIKK - Picked this up when it went Early Access back in March/April. Plays really well and they have been updating it frequently (they also have a solid timeline ahead of them too). Keep an eye on this one if you are in to the whole arena shooter genre and if you like UT better than Quake 3 (which would make you stupid but I won't judge)

Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number - This guy was released on 3/10. It's pretty much exactly what we expected from the release. It's hard, it's full on violence, it's fast paced, it has killer jams that are almost hypnotizing. It also has a simulated rape scene right at the beginning. That pissed some people off (even though it's super cheesy). This IMO is a must buy if you are in to any 2D gaming. Go get it now....seriously go.

SOMA - Frictional Games has not really been releasing too much info on this game. We do know that it is in closed beta right now (very limited) and screenshots are looking beautiful. Keep your eyes peeled and ears open for this one later this year esp. if you go for games like Amnesia.

Decay: The Mare - This game was released on Steam back in late Feb. Reviews have been really positive so far. I have not had the chance to play yet so I cannot comment myself on the quality but it seems like a winner from what I've read. IMO based on the little I know, I would say pick it up still if you are in to point and click horror

Resident Evil HD Remaster - This game dropped on 1/19. Fudgeing awesome! I have a very special place in my heart for a few select games and RE1 is one of them. This remake is stellar. If you like RE1 then go get this Fudgeer now. You will not be disappointed. Also, pick Chris and go knife only. You won't.....pussy.

Ori and the Blind Forest - This game was released on 3/11. Holy Crap. This game is B E A UTIFUL. Super pretty. The gameplay is amazing and the story definitely hits you in the feels. Def. wins in the platformer department. If you like platformers like Rayman then go buy this game right now and thank me later.

Project Cars - This game was released on 5/6. This is THE racing game to buy (not including iRacing because...well...everyone knows that is the king of sim racing). Plays well, looks gorgeous, and it's pretty much everything you wanted in a racing game. There are some issues though and some of them are shady. If you have and AMD card you won't get bad performance but you won't get great performance either. Team Green is heavily represented in this game in every possible way. Draw you own conclusions.

Road Redemption - Still Early Access. I haven't played it yet and I probably won;t until a full release but I do have several friends that took the plunge and said they loved it so far. Still worth keeping an eye on for sure if you like Road Rash, riding motorcycles, beating the Crap out of people, or any combination of those choices.

Cancelled Projects
Shadow Realms - Bioware cancelled this for some reason. It was a pretty fast turn around so it must have done horribly reception wise.
