Fudge that. Hard G for life, homie!

If the creator wanted it pronounced jif, maybe he should have used a j or something other than Graphic Interchanged Format. Graphic. With a hard G. Deal with it.

Also, hard G in GIFT, therefore hard G in GIF. The phonic from the first letter doesn't change just because you've added a letter to the end of the word.

Adding letters can change the phonic no matter where it's located. Also, one of the basic rules in English is a 'g' followed by 'i' is always soft with a small handful of exceptions. Gift happens to be one of these exceptions. I've always pronounced it as a J. I'm glad to see I was correct. Get with it scrubs
