For Game Night this Friday, we're going to go back a few years and play some Call of Duty 4. No funky mods, No silly add-ons. Straight vanilla  We'll have a server up so stop by the Teamspeak server around 9pm and we'll get started.

Yeah, I installed this game once in the past 5 years or so....as soon as someone bound the fire key to their mousewheel I raged...hard...and immediately uninstalled.

Don't have COD4, amazingly.  Never been a big fan.

We should do a BF3 night sometime soon... after the humble bundle it'd be fun to get a dozen people together and go mess Crap up.  I think eXtv might even still have a server (I keep getting invoices from EOR every month for one).  I think I have an extra key from my humble bundle, as well.

We're not fans of any of the other CoDs. Just 4 :)

I'm honestly surprised I haven't picked it up in some random bundle at this point... I actually thought I did, but when I checked my Steam games it wasn't there.  Oh well, I'm be getting hammered at my parents more than likely anyway :-)

I have this installed and I think I might need to make some time to get on for this.  I love this game and it should be fun to play again.

For those who do not have it installed and need all 7 patches:  http://www.gamefront.com/files/listing/pub2/Call_of_Duty_4_Modern_Warfare/Official_Patches/ (http://www.gamefront.com/files/listing/pub2/Call_of_Duty_4_Modern_Warfare/Official_Patches/)

Friendly FYI - if you're re-installing fresh from Steam, you will only need the following patches:

http://www.gamefront.com/files/10492517/Call_of_Duty_4__Modern_Warfare_v1_6_Patch (http://www.gamefront.com/files/10492517/Call_of_Duty_4__Modern_Warfare_v1_6_Patch)

Then, our little friend Mr. PunkBuster will rear its ugly head, didn't update for me out of the box so I went here (http://www.evenbalance.com/?page=pbsetup.php) to download manually, browsed to my game directory (i.e. D:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\Call of Duty 4) then was able to add/update the game (client/server versions attached).

Booted up and in a game without a hitch (also attached).

My last CoD4 experience involved FITES as well.

@ the 200 two years ago a guy was having trouble getting into our GunGame server.  He came over and gave me quite the attitude after my "support" was asking if PB was up to date and if the patches were up to date.

Poor Czar (i think) was the guy who went over to this guys computer and indeed did find that he installed no patches at all.  Probably by the time everything was installed for him we stopped playing.

derp.

Just a heads up, we ask that everyone start at level 1. Two reasons for this: 1) It has been several years since this game has been played and many people do not have their profiles saved. 2) It'll be fun to see how fast the pack spreads out and who jumps in the lead for leveling.

Also, I miss that leveling sound :) (FYI, my profile was saved. muhahhaa)

I have my profile as well.  I even have a second that I started for when I play with the boys cause we all started at level 1 on a home server and we were moving up.  I will miss claymores a lot but I can manage to kill people without them for a while.

Good call Czar, of all the CoD's, 4 is the only one I really played -- met up with an older group years ago down here in South FL and attended their "DEATHMATCH" LAN parties which consisted of installing/patching 75% of the time -- felt like I was back in high school haha.  They were so anti-Steam (and probably still are); I wasn't about to change their ways.  Anyway, we LAN'ed CoD4 and it was a great time so I'm looking forward to this!
