Interesting but using electromagnets to collect solar energy almost seems like it defeats the purpose.  I would think it would take great amounts of electricity to create the gravitational fields necessary to bend light let alone trap it.

I don't think it's using electromagnets to capture the waves, it's capturing electromagnetic waves. And they're saying that using these methods, they should be able to produce a device that will capture visible light, concentrating it onto a solar cell to create electricity....if I'm reading it right, any way.
