From the FarCry Community Website:

Thursday 07.15.2004  Far Cry 1.2 Patch Update

Once again, we want to let you know that Far Cry patch 1.2 is close to being released. We were about to release this week as planned, when a hardware manufacturer code update forced us to modify the patch accordingly. It took a couple of days to make it work without breaking anything else. We think it is worth the extra wait, as it's all about making sure everyone enjoys the best experience possible, both in terms of gameplay and performance.
Yesterday, a new solid patch candidate left for what we hope is the last series of tests.

We are all looking forward to releasing this very ambitious Far Cry upgrade, and we know we need to give it our best to make sure we live up to your expectations.

Thanks again for your patience

Matthieu Boulard
Far Cry Ubisoft producer

That is one very argumentative statement

but i hear that with this upgrade, my newly purchased GeForce 6800GT OC will take advantage of the new graphical features. ;)

Radeon 7500.

The problem is it only hardware supports dx7 :(

And farcry is pure DX9 code.

The ti is dx8.1, so you can run dx9 code (not hardware)

I sympathize tekie, I haven't been able to play it until recently with my proc, ram, and mobo upgrade, and as Pride says, it is the best single player game ever. I'm not very far into it yet but when those trigems jump up at you I literally get chills down my spine. I got the same feeling when I played Half-Life with those crabby things that jumped up on your face (I forget their name). And that was considered the best single-player game EVER at the time.

I'll admit the game was very friggin cool.... but it has nothing on tetris.

seriously, my fav singleplayer of all time is by far(as many of you know) Descent1. Nothing i have seen has ever even come close to the kind of intense fear i experience when playing it.

Fear is one of the best things in games. And one of the toughest to successfuly achieve. If a game can scare the Crap outta me and still be fun, then it is a very good game. Farcry made me jump once or twice, but still nothing too major.

Doom3 is looking to be a very good candidate of this.

Well, IMO best single player game was x-wing (old dos game) that game just kicked so much ass.

But hopefully i'm ordering a new card SOON and will be able to play it. (I need the card so I can do doom 3 :-D)

Why the hell were you fearful in descent?  I beat all 3 of them and I cannot think of a single time that I was afraid of what lurked around a corner..

turn the lights off, turn your speakers up, and just listen... I've broken 2 joysticks out of fear when i played it. I get way too immersed in it, and if you have ever played on the Insane difficulty all the way thru.... the nerves get so bound up.

the bots coming out of the shadows without a sound, and then all of a sudden *SCREECH*!! you are flyin around tryin to figure out what the hell that was. I suppose its all in the sound. Thats the only game i blast the speakers for. Its the only game WORTH blasting the speaks for.

But to each his own. Played Silent hill games... Scary, but not fun.
