Farcry 2
« on: November 08, 2008, 05:48:53 PM »
Well I finished it tonight. And I must say while it was fun it could of been a whole lot better. Both the endings are pretty lame, you get to choose between the two. I won't spoil them for you, but I will say one thing. You can't go back and play again to get all the diamonds, safe houses, and guard posts. So make sure you get all of them before you finish the game. I guess I might as well play some Fallout 3.

Fallout 3 is the same way, btw. The game ends when you finish the main mission. What I did was load up a saved game from right before I did the last mission, and am going through the rest of it. Which, I might add, is just as good or better than the main mission itself. And I thought the main mission was fantastic.

far cry 2 just keeps getting more and more frustrating.  First, it likes to crash and go straight to the desktop.  No error, just poof, gone.  Game is fully up to date.  Drivers are fully up to date.

If you use a gun turret and you've remapped your 'use' key to another key, it won't let you exit the turret anymore.  I died way too many times until I figured out the original use key 'E' would still let you exit the turret.

Also, i'm having a hard time keeping up with the quests.  A guy gives me a quest to take out a convoy.  OK, I go and take out the convoy.  But, then i can't figure out how to get back to the guy to be rewarded.  Sigh.  I guess i should have a piece of paper to write down locations of places when i get a quest so i can find my way back.  Oblivion really spoiled me in this regard.

One really funny thing did happen today in between crashes.  I was traveling down a road in a jeep with a mounted gun.  I see a guy in a car driving towards me.  Thinking he will auto-attack just like all the other mindless NPCs in the game, i switch to the mounted gun to shoot him.  Instead of raming me, he stops, turns around, and starts driving away from me.  I chase him for a while for the fun of it.  He then goes all suicidal and drives his car off a small hill into a pond.  He gets out of his car while in the water, and then drowns.  WTF?  pretty funny, i thought.

No clue how much time i've lost from the latest crash and how far back the previous save was.  But i'm too annoyed to find out for now.

You are referring to all the side quests you get from the radio towers right? The main missions they pay you up front and whenever you finish you can go get another mission. I had one instance where that one mission where you take out the train with that buddy of yours. Well I completed the first part of that mission. And didn't know I had to go straight there. So I went back to the safe house and advanced the time and saved the game. I went over to the train where he was and he already blew up and killed everyone and it awarded me the mission. And I didn't do a damn thing. Which sucked because I really wanted to play that mission.
