Earthquake!!!
« on: August 23, 2011, 01:08:30 PM »
http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/recenteqsus/Quakes/at00lqe6x3.php

Centered in Mineral, VA, magnitude 5.9. Felt all the way to Pittsburgh, New York, Philly, etc. Only .6 miles deep, so the shakes traveled pretty far.

I thought it was just someone walking on the roof at first, couldn't have imagined I was experiencing an earthquake in PA!
Please just walk away. I don't want to have to stand here and say something so awesome that I'll have to remember it the rest of the day. Thank you!

Felt the tremors up here in Scranton. Nothing major. A little shake shake and water ripples in glasses. I thought I had too much caffeine today and I was tweaking out but sure as hell 20 minutes later there it was on CNN.

was tired as hell last night due to a rather brutal training session at the mma school. So I'm sleeping today and wake up to this rumbling and I'm SO GODDAMN CONFUSED as to what's going on because I can't perceive reality at that point.

Then I remember that I occasionally (as in rarely) get this rumbling in my apartment, like someone is moving something SUPER HEAVY in the apartment under me, but I know that's impossible and I credit it to the quarry right down the road and I figure that someone's setting off some underground explosives or something. Go figure this rumbling was from an actual quake.

I bet ID Software is shaking in their boots because.... this quake outdid theirs... Ha.... ha ha... ahhhhh dammit.

was at one of Motorola's corporate's sites mid way into Long Island.  Felt it good and strong.  Shook the whole building.  Lasted about 15 seconds.

I heard on the news that what we felt was close to a ~3.0 magnitude. Since every whole number increase in magnitude rating is equal to 10x the intensity of the quake, its hard to imagine what the 5.8 felt like in VA or better yet what these things feel like in Japan and California.

I for one and happy to have experienced it.  Last major quake was in the 1800's and i doubt we'll ever feel another one in this area in our lifetime.

I was driving on 95.  Didn't notice Crap, I feel left out.  One friend said that's cause I drive like a nut, other friend said the suspension on my car is that awesome.  I think the truth lies in the middle somewhere.
