Does anyone else suffer from Game Nostalgia?
When I got to college, in the Fall of 1999, I had the pleasure of being exposed to a blazingly fast broadband connection on campus. The chums I roomed with in my end of the dorm hall quickly all became friends and soon after, late night gaming sessions occupied just about every night of the week.
Some of my most fond memories from that time include 8 player C&C RA2 and Tiberium Sun (the original..) with games lasting 4+ hours. Teams of 4 would meet for a pre-game briefing in someone's room and we'd use our landline telephones for coordinating attacks while in game. Post-game meetings would take place to discuss tactics and ways to improve.
In fact, I used my stereo system on several occasions to blast Flight of the Valkyries down the dorm hall as I was launching a massive air strike on Tiberium Sun. Someone would shout down the hall "Look out! Czar's launched the planes!" The best, however, was blasting the Sabre Dance as my team of 4 thoroughly violated one of the enemy bases in a finely choriographed display of sheer force and tact.
Quake II was a real hit amongst us and I`ll always cherish the skin I found of Barney the Barn Door. When you turned to the side, it was almost impossible to get hit. .. which of course led me to make my own skin.. a 1px x 1px dot which lasted all of 20 min before people came to my door with threats. Muhaha.
The original Half-Life deathmatch occupied us for hours at a time. Just hearing the sound effects from it gets me giddy.
Surely others out there have similar game memories. Let's get some games going!
So..would anyone be down for one, some, or all of the following some night (using Hamachi where needed)?
