I am not expert in this area. I played maybe a handful of times but:
:headscratch:
At what point does DnD become a board game (http://www.dwarvenforge.com/store/home.php)?

D&D is a board game. sorta kinda. That is by far one of the coolest dungeon tools available by the way.
I`m slowing converting FITES members to D&D. Glad to already have someone familiar with it? 4th edition?

I used to play 3.5 back in highschool, but grew out of it. It's not fun to me anymore.

hey
Ya should give 4th ed a try. Some say its more like an MMO. You never run out of spells/powers as they've organized them in to three kinds:
At-Will Powers (can be done every round)
Encounter Powers (can be done once an encounter)
Daily Powers (can be done once a day)
The kick-ass-ness of the powers increases as the frequency in which you can do them decreases..as in your Daily Power(s) are kick ass.
Also, every class gets Powers. Even your basic hack'n'slash fighter. For example, instead of just slashing with his/her sword every round, they can use one of their At-Will Powers. One is called Tide of Iron, which allows the fighter to make an attack, deal damage, and at the end, push the enemy back a square and the move in to that newly vacated square. That can be done every round.
