WHS
« on: July 18, 2010, 09:06:35 AM »
So I'm going to be building a new WHS box.  The question is which version do I use and what are my upgrade options in the future.  I can install WHS now but does anyone know of any upgrade/migration options to Veil when it becomes final?  Or should I install Veil now even though it's only a beta and hope that it will be upgradeable when it's released?

I know WHS you can pull your drives out and still read them in other comps.  Has anyone heard rumors of Microsoft releasing a utility that would allow you to read their new drive format for Veil storage drives?

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that there is no upgrade path from version 1 to Vail.  But supposedly there will be an upgrade path from Vail beta to Vail RTM.

Found a nice article on anandtech talking about the new drive extender feature:  http://www.anandtech.com/show/3677/windows-home-server-v2-vail-beta-drive-extender-v2-dissected

Please just walk away. I don't want to have to stand here and say something so awesome that I'll have to remember it the rest of the day. Thank you!
