Seeing as I am the nongaming coordinator (non gaming as it relates to computers at least) I was curious as to what consoles people were planning on bringing (or would like to bring) as well as what cool gadgets for the consoles people would be willing to share with the participants (eyetoy, guitar hero, etc.). Please post offers here. Most of this will be used during the "Sleepy time" period of 2 am - 7 am. A staffer should be awake and around the area during the time of use and we will respect your wishes if you choose to only allow it to be used while in your presence.

My cousin and I are down for some smash bros. at the lan. We'll provide the GC's?
-
yeh.
but his gamecube is a bit messed up. so we might only be able to bring one.
oh. im good for capcom vs. snk as well.
- its like streetfighter but with more characters.
-
First Post AXE! Whoooop!
-
whoop indeed! lol
-
i got modded xbox with shizloads of games and oldschool arcade games
Xmen/Simpsons anyone?
-
I have a friend with a pair of guitars and guitar hero and he has agreed to let me borrow them for the LAN. So if someone can bring a PS2 we can do some guitar battles. Let me know.
-
I will have the PS2 for DDR with me.
-
lol
ddr.
i don't 'get' that game.
you should teach me.
anyways, i just rememberd i have a mario kart game as well. yeh.. its kinda childish, but its still fun once in a while. and you can set it up so we can have more than 4 people playing at once. if someone else has a gc and knows how to do it.

Well, I have a GC and Mario Kart DD but only two controllers. My GC has the network port on it (these weren't available after 2003 or something like that) but I've never set it up for a network. If I know people are going to actually play it I'd bring it along but I'm not dragging a tv with.

So your sayin we can have 8 real players playin with the network port?
i got a few gc controlers + the box if needed.
-
lol.
don't bring your gc. its all messed up.
your controlers are good though.
i've only got 2 good controllers too.
and i have no idea how to set up the network thing.
as for the tv.
do they make video capture cards to work with those cables?
-
I have a TV Tuner card on my PC and if needed I will drag it over. Also we are going to have a couple of projectors available for gaming.
-
With two GCs that have the port and two Mario Kart games (one on each GC) you can play 8 players. You can also do 8 players with 8 separate GCs/TVs but that's not needed. From what I remember reading in the manual about hooking the systems up it's not difficult, you just need a TV for each GC and a network cable.
-
what kind of port is it labeled as?
because maybe my gc dosn't have one.
on the bottem of it, theres a port labled as hi-speed port.
is that it?
-
I'll have to recheck the manual and my box when I get home but I don't think that's the one. That I think was meant for internet (of course they may be one and the same). But don't forget, all of this will mean nothing without two decent sized televisions to play these on. A little computer monitor is hard for 4 people to see at once.
Any staff want to comment on our discussion please?

Setting up the GameCubes is just like doing computers. If you are doing only 2 you can do them directly using a crossover cable or if you want to do more you need a hub or switch to connect them to each other.

I have a 4 port switch thats gonna be in my bag if we need it for consoles

If needed and IF it can fit in the car with all my other CRAP errr important stuff.... I can bring mine, but I only have two controllers, but mine does have the network adapter. llDayo, you may be right you might only have the modem. I remember when I bought mine it was just the modem.
-
Speaking of switches I might bring mine along, that is if I can find it.

I'm pretty sure mine also has the network adapter but I'll try to remember to check when I get home tonight.

rathe said he'll have projecters available. so noone would need to drag a tv around.
-
We will have a projector and screen available for the console action after midnight.
-
Sounds nice! i got a tv tuner aswell
So rathe if theres any prizes left over... we can put together a console tourny???
-
that ultra case has my name on it btw
-
I can bring by my Xbox 360 if anyone is remotely interested. I have Quake 4, NFS: Most Wanted, and Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter for multiplayer although I think they are all only on system link or xbox live.
*checks the cases* Oops. NFS: Most Wanted is up to 2 split-screen and GRAW is up to 4 split-screen. I only have 2 wireless controllers however. I might haul along the sytem and leave it in the car anyways though. Ya know. Just in case... Just have to remember to get another ethernet cable unless the staff can wire me up to a network if necessary.
-
Yeh i'll have my game cube hooked to my tv tunar during the "open play" period running Super smash bros. if we have enough players i can set up in game brackets. Or maybe play on the big screen if lucky!
-
*no skill required
-
I checked my gamecube last night and while I do have the ports available I forgot that there's pieces sold separately that connect into them :(
So I won't be bringing my cube up for Mariokart. If someone else has the necessary setup I'll gladly still bring the game so we can get 8 players going!
-
I have the game, you just want to bring two controllers?
-
Yeah, I'll bring them with. I just put new batteries in the wireless Wavebird so that will last no matter how much it's played. The other one is just a regular controller with the rumble feature. So do we have two GCs to connect together or will it just be four players?
-
Well, I have one if someone is bringing the other.
-
im bringing my gc. and 2 controllers.
krurath is bringing another 2 or 3 controllers.
and i think i'll bring my crappy 'super' pad controller just in case.
