Cloudy tubes -Watercooling finally has caught up with me.
« on: February 19, 2007, 02:34:16 PM »
I have *never* had a leak, or had issues with corrosion.  I have always been very careful to avoid any issues until now...

I guess it could be worse, there are no particles in the tubing and is appears nothing is clogging.  I noticed during a recent cleaining/blowing the dust off that my tubing was cloudy.   Im guessing it is because I used 4 times the reccommended concetration of Swiftech Hydrex coolant additive.

I cannot risk particles in the coolant because I am running a jet impregnation waterblock that will clog leaving me completely screwed.  I never liked the plumbing of my watercooling loop and found a good deal on a sweet Opteron 165, so I guess it's a good time for a total and complete rebuild of my gaming rig.  I have it partialy dissembled and its waiting for parts (~$20 in tubing & coolant)    I have to let the reuseable components soak in some vinager for a few hours to make sure they get cleaned out real well.

I unfourtunately wont be able to make it to the next LAN, I wont have time to rebuild before then  :shakeno:

Booo...you and your watercooling beast have become quite the fixture of FITES events.  Almost as much as Shadowraptor creations.

I noticed at the last lan the lines were kind of cloudy. I didn't think nothing of it, I assumed you had everything under control. Not saying you do, but your not the only one who is not going to make it. I got school to worry about and even though it bores me, next lan I will definetly I will come to that.

Im going to make an attempt at getting there, but I think USPS and Fedex wont  be delivering anything until thursday at the soonest.  I have my second rig that I could bring (OC'ed a64 3000+, 1gb ram, x700pro), but I may have to just use the weekend to rebuild.

Try switching to Zerex and distilled water. I've been using it for years without any issues what-so-ever. I have some sitting around right now if you're interested.....

The super coolant that comes in a qt?  I've used it before, I really liked the koolance fluid before they switched to the blue stuff.

I have used Hydrex forever, this is the first time I used clearflex tubing instead of tygon.  What ratio do you use with the zerex? Do you use anything to kill fungus, iodine?

Zerex kills fungus, I didn't like the coolance stuff., FluidXP is the best. I use Primoflex tubing, it's better then Tygon

I have a new 4 ounce supply (enough for 1 gallon) unmixed right now that I'm not using. I'll sell it for $5.00.
