developer Treyarch has revealed the first details about its upcoming shooter, Call of Duty: World at War (previously known as Call of Duty 5). Having previously developed Call of Duty 3, the team is bringing the FPS franchise back to its WWII roots.
check it out for yourselves my friends.

My only gripe about this game is that it's being developed by treyarch and not infinity ward. COD4 was developed by infinity ward. So this game is likely to blow! Think COD3 for the consoles.

I was kind of hoping for a future weapons call of duty for the 5th iteration. WWII titles are so yesterday. ;)
-
Yeah I don't understand why they felt the need to go back to WWII AGAIN. Talk about beating a long dead and diseased horse.
-
Just floating an idea. Take the existing Cod4 level system but start everyone with WWII era guns and as you uprade, get newer (more modern weapons) until you get to futuristic weapons. Done right, that could be pretty cool.

that would suck to be firing a single shot rifle or a thompson while a level 55 is shooting a full auto plasma rifle in the 40 watt range. (name that movie )

i fail. I thought it was alien or aliens but had to google to be sure... i was wrong, but i won't give it away.

when I first saw the begining of the trailer I was thinking maybe vietnam. then I quickly realized it was the pacific theater. so....meh I don't know if I want to play another WWII game.

I think that it's unfortunate for Treyarch that the new game is being judged before it's even been released. That being said, I'm not really digging the whole Pacific theater biz. I think the type of warfare that happened there doesn't lend itself well to a first person game. I think an air or naval game is better suited for that theater of operations.
