Bout Friggin Time..Got The Rock, Ready To Roll
« on: January 02, 2008, 10:40:39 PM »
So I finally got my Buy.com gift card, so I'm ready to blow some serious $$$. I have very limited options though as everything seems to be sold out. So out of the things I do have...tell me your thoughts on everything

Video Cards

Or wait till like a 8800GT comes available (could buy the stock one, but it doesn't do nearly as good as the OC'd)

Or wait like mad til OC'd GTS cards finally are released (though I imagine they're gonna be a pretty penny)

Processor:

*Prob will just go with a stock new GTS and a Q6600, but I'm gonna be bummed I can't get an already OC'd card (even though I know they'll hit 800mhz core after the rivertuner mod to allow you to OC them)

I have the q6600 and I can't recomend it more.  nstuff anf cipher have theirs OC'd to 3gig each and they ran ultra smooth.I will get around to OCing the thing as soon as i decide to get a thermalright ultra 120 extreme heatsink.  As for the video card i have a 8800gt thats factory oc'd to 700 core 1000mem and the darn thing overheats a lot in games Im sending it back to evga and gttingt he 8800gts 512.  The spped of the gt is awesome and i can't be more happy about it in those terms it's the first version so it's before they fixed the cooler on them.

decided I'm gonna go with the q6600 and the xfx 8800gts 512 i think...I'd go with the superclock but it's not in stock so I'll just spent the extra 40 bucks or so on the GTS

I have this unspoken rule that 10 bucks a frame is worth the extra green...and the new GTS just so happens to be about 4-5 fps higher than the GT so I guess I'll spend the cash for the performance. I'll be sure to post up score when I get it all in (looking forward to oc'ing my q6600 to 3ghz when I get it...quads really have a significant performance boost when you get them up to the higher 1333 FSB which is what they need to be at to not bottleneck out)

Guess Intel just learned that now as those mad expensive 45nm processors are all 1333...LOL  :headscratch:
