Be Sure To Pickup A Copy Of Maximum PC for December!!!
« on: October 29, 2007, 02:43:40 PM »
Like the title says,

You guys should pickup a copy of Maximum PC for the December issue and turn the back page. My Fridge PC is featured as the Rig of the Month for December. It's gonna be sweet (so cool that my comp will be featured in a nation wide magizine)

Anyways, just wanted to let everyone know. Now I have to figure out what I'm gonna do with the 500 dollar gift card for Tiger Direct. It'll prob be out in 2-3 weeks so keep an eye out and w00t! Keep it on the DL!

No no no.  The more he tries to keep it secret the more people will blab about it and get the word out.  Don't you guys know anything about reverse psychology??

Didn't you just sell your video card on E-bay? How about getting two 8800GT's then you can find out for sure what's better in your argument at this thread.

And grats!
Please just walk away. I don't want to have to stand here and say something so awesome that I'll have to remember it the rest of the day. Thank you!

Yeah thats why I sold my video card. I actually got the email from the Rig of the Month director about 2 weeks ago. And I was thinking of going the route of 2 EVGA 8800GT SSC editions (700MHZ core, 1750 shader and 2000mhz memory) and a 22" Samsung monitor...However, I'm now leaning towards the route of getting a Quad Core instead of the 2nd GT because my E4400 isn't cutting it.

I've listed my E4400 along with a 160GB IDE and 2GB Dual Channel OCZ Platinum Memory on Ebay if anyone is interested. I'm selling the memory to get some newer Crucial Ballistixs because OCZ can't seem to OC past 900MHZ and I didn't wanna put the memory clear at 2.2 or higher just to get it stable (Crucial makes a better chip so they're able to hit the 1100 range easily...(my friend Bob is doing it with his dual channel Crucial)

If you're having trouble on deciding what to do with that gift card, I could always use a new C2D rig!  ;)  I just thought I'd try.....
That's Mr. Deception to you.

Yeah i was looking researching the new GTS as well online. It's suppose to be released in like 2 weeks. I think it'll be around 750MHZ Core and 2100MHZ memory with the shader at 1700MHZ. Anyways, it's suppose to base at around 320 when released for the 512 version, and the 1GB will prob be closer to 350-360. Rumors have it that it will be using an 8 pin connector which stinks b/c my PS doesn't have it. It most likely will be doubled stack too because I was reading about the MSI GT (660 core, 1900 memory and 1650 shader clock) and it's running high 58-59 c for temps. Can't imagine Nvidia releasing the new GTS because once they have the core at it's 750-800 range it's gonna be way to hot for a single stack card to handle. Anyways, thats all the info I have on it so far. Thinking I may hold off a bit to see what it's doing however I just don't see it blowing the doors off the EVGA 8800GT SSC (highest clocked card on the market for the GT....700MHZ core, 1750 shader and 2000MHZ memory)

yea thats true,  plus if you get 2 gt's you'll still be a good bit faster then 1 gts.  i may wait and just see what ATI/AMD have with their HD3800xt or whatever it's gonna be called.  Nvidia already said ati will be faster at 3dmark but i wonder how it will do in the majority of games cause thats all i care about.  but then again it will be priced higher too.

The new GTS cards are out now, They are all listed at 96+ SP, I guess thats nVidias way of frcing partners to screw with consumers so we dont know what we are getting.  Outside of the eVga SSC card you cant be guarnteed yo are getting a new GTS or an old one.

BTW, Fridge pc?  This thread is useless without pics.

the new GTS's have 112 sp as well and have all the benefits of the g92 chip.  From what I've read the clocks will be the same and I havn't heard of the memory bus whether it's 320 or 256.  But it should compete pretty well with the 8800gt.  Anyways, Im sure Nvidia will have a brand spanking new chip in Jan or feb to totally rock the new DX10 games.  lets face it dx10 games aren't doing to well on any of these boards.  to me 25-30fps isn't really all that playable.  I'll take 60-80 please!!!!!

I agree about the DX10..oh and by the way, the new GTS is gonna have 128 not the 112 of the GT (the whole 16 more shaders..don't understand it) Anyways, back to the topic of DX10... the MSI GT's at 660 and 1900 are doing around 32 average on Lost Planet in 1600x1200 in DX10...Imagine the SSC edition will do a good 5 more since its 40mhz faster clock and 100MHZ faster Memory and Shader...

I think they're gonna be at 256 Mem bus though cause Nvidia has found out the hard way that 320 bit is problematic.

And anyone who was at the 150 man knows what I'm talkin bout with the Fridge PC. But because your obviously a n00b....

Something interesting Dave incase you haven't seen it yet. Toms Hardware did a bench of the GT at stock speeds (the usual 600 core and such) and benched in Crysis using a Quad Core. They got 35.5 FPS average with a stock card so any XFX Extreme or EVGA Superclock or above (Superclock is at 650 core and 1800 mem i think) would be easily doing 40-43ish in 1600x1200 in Crysis cranked maxed. Just avoid the AA and you'd be made (shader clock for the XFX Extreme, XXX or the EVGA Superclock and KO are bumped up a good 100MHZ as well so that helps too)

Just some interesting stuff I found
