Time to flood the BF3 and DICE message boards with requests (demands) that they do it!

Hey man, at least I'm willing to take the first step. What else do you want? It'd be better than kidnapping the devs and.... oh, wait, that's an even better idea!

Here's an idea guys: sometime during the upcoming 200 man, we'll make a FITES thread on the BF3 forum identifying ourselves as a LAN group and demanding dedicated server files so we can run LAN servers. Then we'll make an announcement for all 200 people at the LAN to go register/sign in and post in that thread, to show them that there really are 200 people who want this functionality so bad that they might not buy the game if it lacks this.

Edit: that is, if enterbf3.com is official. I have a feeling it isn't?

That is an interesting approach though. Showing that an event is going on at that moment and here are a bulk of the participants.

Hey, like I said.... flood the boards with requests. Except we have a specific time slot of like 20min where there are NO tournaments going on and it's announced over the p.a. that, "hey, this is what we want to do to better our and your experience at fites and this time YOU can have a direct impact on what may or may not happen. Just go to xyz.com and voice your support."

But yes, it seems official. Like, DICE-official. That contest on the main page though, I dunno. It/they want you to fill out surveys for a chance to win stuff and also for you to download and install stuff onto your system. I kinda quit that really quick.

I'm pretty sure enterbf3.com is just a fan page.

However, this would be appropriate: http://forum.ea.com/eaforum/categories/show/215.page
Please just walk away. I don't want to have to stand here and say something so awesome that I'll have to remember it the rest of the day. Thank you!

Just posted on ShackNews today

http://www.shacknews.com/laryn.x?story=67440

"Battlefield 3 is being developed with a distinct PC focus, according to the GameInformer cover story (via Joystiq). Executive producer Patrick Bach says the team is "focusing on PC first, and then we fiddle with it to fit it onto consoles."

The game will support dedicated servers, and is sticking with four selectable classes (referred to as "the sweet spot"). Forming up into squads is also getting tweaked, but Bach is holding those details close to the vest for the time being."

I'll post here what I posted there:

So when you say "dedicated server support" do you mean user hosted or affiliate hosted? If it's the latter, then no LAN support which means you don't get my support.
That's Mr. Deception to you.

Bingo. If all 200 people at the FITES 200 go into that thread and demand LAN support, I'm sure they'd at least seriously consider it.

They might not seriously consider it, as 200 out of however many millions that would buy the game isn't much, BUT for 200 people to just outright suddenly show up and show support for something.... that would catch a few eyes, at the very least.

It's worth a shot, right? Nothing to lose, everything to gain. I'm down. We'd just have to make this actually happen at a specified time.
