Battlefield 3
« on: February 03, 2011, 09:07:11 PM »
Gonna keep this topic semi-active, as news will be sparse until close to release date which is a ways off from now. Hopefully it'll be done before Fites2012.

Tomorrow, February 4th, we get our first video teaser of Battlefield 3. It's using the Frostbite 2 engine, like BC2, but it'll have obvious upgrades. We don't yet know if it'll have HUUUUUUGE maps and 64 player battles and dedi servers, but we do know that it'll be on the big 3. PS3, Xbox360 and PC. What else we know is told by game informer, but that's pretty much it. They say, "animation techniques borrowed from the EA Sports guys and an exponential leap in destructibility."

Here's to hoping. I'm excited!

No dedicated servers available = no care.

The better have dedicated servers for us, not this rent a server tomfoolery.

I agree.. When MW2 came out and lan servers weren't available, I didn't care about the game anymore. Same with Black Ops and if its the same case with BF3 I won't care for the game at all.

Also:

"DICE announced today on the official Battlefield Blog that Battlefield 1943 and Bad Company 2: Onslaught have been canceled on the PC platform. According to the announcement, DICE is looking to instead allocate their resources on Battlefield 3."

That blows about 1943 being canceled.  If they would just release the server files and modding tools, 1943 could EASILY be made as a user mod.  And I am in agreement with everyone else.  No dedicated LAN server = no purchase.
That's Mr. Deception to you.

Teaser trailer. It's not much, but it exists.

Battlefield 3 - Teaser Trailer

Also, from Kotaku who cite Game Informer as their source for a few things: "The game will include jets and the ability to go prone as well as 64-player multi-player (for PC)."

I might've bought 1943... if it was for a crazy low price. $15 when BC2 is out? That's too much, in my opinion. Make it a $5 game and watch the sales climb.

I've said this before but...I'm tired of buying the same game 18 times.  Maybe it's better that Duke Nukem took 13 years to have a squeal.  That way it lived on as a legend.  Honestly who goes on about COD3.  No one!  We're up to part 6 (You mean modern warfare 2 ?).  Its a scam dammit.  It's like Microsoft coming out with a new OS or Office every other year.

I see your point but I'll keep buying them over and over and over.  Also, the same can be said of WOW and most any other game.

No No No...wow has 3 xpanison packs and never claims to be a new game.  They are addons to the original.  You can still play with people that didn't buy them.  Unlike when (almost) all the people move to the next rendition of COD or BF.  And Secondly you admitted to buying the SAME game over and over.

If you're referring to the subscription fee:

I can't wait until Madden comes out this year.  They are saying it is the best year yet!!!

Not that I buy Madden every year but the team rosters change.  So even if the game isn't that different if you want to stay current you have the option of doing so.

I just guess that I lump COD and BF together cause they like the same thing.  Nothing new at all.

Whatever they call it, new game or expansion, I'm buying it:)  To me enough changes are made that warrant the purchase.  I guess as long as i have fun I'll keep doing it.

Depending on how the game is and how everyone feels about this...we could maybe eventually discuss the possibility of transitioning over to a public Battlefield 3 server, but wasn't sure if you guys would be up for that or not.

If it has no LAN dedicated servers....I will not be purchasing.  Unless it goes on sale for like $10.  Otherwise, EA can suck it.
