"DICE has revealed some new information regarding sniper rifles and how they will be tweaked, weapon damage, and HD textures!

When it comes to balancing, sniper rifles have always been a controversial issue in FPS multiplayer. According to many FPS forums, they’re either under-powered, over-powered, useless at close range, or too effective at “quick-scoping.” Many Battlefield fans have already shown concern towards DICE’s decision to make bolt-action rifles only a one-shot kill when striking to the head. This would seemingly give too much power to the semi-auto sniper rifles (which only needed two body shots to kill an enemy, as with the bolt-actions) that tended to dominate during the Beta. However, Alan Kertz recently clarified that the semi-autos are, indeed, being tweaked. When one fan for Kertz’s thoughts on their ability to take down enemies in two shots being over-powered, he responded, “the two shot kill range was a bit too long. They can still 2 shot up close to be competitive.” So, it seems that while they will still be able to two-shot an enemy in the final build, the distance at which that can do this will be shortened."

Yeah, Fudge them... they have no concept of balancing their LMGs, MGs, and SMGs. They have basically made long range sniping worthless while allowing every other non sniper rifle in the game to have more effective stopping power.  They also havent learned their lesson of how stupid it is to have a sniper round suffer from bullet drop, even at medium distances while allowing other non sniper rifles to have none ad medium to long range.

What kind of Fudgeing computer errors are you getting?

Personally, I don't think game developers these days have ever even fired a gun, so how the hell would they know how to balance the damn things. I think they just need to stop tweaking the the guns and start fixing their damn hit boxes. instead of here's a hit box for the head that's 100% health no matter what and hit box for the body that's only a certain percent damage from the gun, they need separate hit boxes  for arms, legs, torso, chest, center of mass, and head, and then each one of those with a different percentage of weapon damage that gets through. While CM and head should both be instant kills, at least you would have something to base the gun damage off of by using the percentages from the other hit boxes on the body. Obviously arms and legs would cause you to lose less health than a torso shot, which would cause you to lose less health than a chest shot. You would also take far less damage from a 5.7mm SMG than you would a 7.62mm assault rifle and even more damage from a .308 cal. or .50 cal. sniper rifle, regardless of weather or not it's semi-auto or bolt action, all that should affect is accuracy. Also keep in mind that, in my opinion, the CM box should actually be slightly smaller than the head box because, lets face it, your heart is smaller than your brain.

Well in that case....

If anyone is interested our server should be up by the end of the week. Will probably be rush and conquest all maps (i havent really ran into a bad map yet), no hardcore. If anyone would like to make a donation it will get you a reserved slot.  And as always FITES is welcome to play in it regardless.  I already have a few of you on my friends list on battlelog and hope to play with you guys soon.  I'll post final details when I have them.

I really want to play. Really really. So I gave the SP campaign a shot to see how hard it could potentially push my new 8core and gtx460.

All settings maxed, only got chop when there were many light sources hitting me at once and action started to pick up. Otherwise, very playable.

I really, really wanna buy and play it. :-(

Yea I assume evetually when a very large number of servers are up this might change.  But for now it might actually make sense to get yourself a reserved slot on a server you like with a good community *cough* ours *cough*  ;)  if you arent privledged enough to have your own.

I can barely log into my own server since the VIP reserved stuff doesn't work yet. Have to kick and join with lightning reflexes! Hasn't dropped below 23/24 since it's been up. Getting a little annoyed.
