I could deal with no LAN support. Sucks, but ok whatever. No Steam? That blows, and installing a separate digital game service is annoying, but not that big of a deal. What's this? I have to exit the game to switch servers? What the Fudge is that Crap? That's more annoying to me than the other crap. It had better be damned easy to exit/start the game with that idiocy running rampant.

Fudge it, still going to play the damned thing.

I dont think they said you had to exit the game to change maps.  People are assuming you have to so they are justified for not buying it.  As long as the gameplay is good I will be happy.  If i have to jump through a few extra hoops to get there I'll deal with it.  But the gameplay vids are looking nice and i hope they deliver.

I yearn for the day where we have a modern FPS with body damage is so realistic you can blow pieces off of your target. I want to maim my enemy until they simply look like a bloody stump trying to worm accross the ground. At that point, I will send the final round to explode their head like a mellon at the hands of gallagher. I am talking 84 charlie mopic style...

I think Soldier of Fortune did something like that.

Ahh, yes. Wikipedia to the rescue again:

Quote
Soldier of Fortune was best known for its graphic depictions of firearms dismembering the human body. This graphic violence is the game's main stylistic attraction, much like the destructible environments of Red Faction or bullet time of Max Payne. The GHOUL engine enables depiction of extreme graphic violence, in which character models are based on body parts that can each independently sustain damage (gore zones). There are 26 zones in total. A shot to the head with a powerful gun will often make the target's head explode, leaving nothing but the bloody stump of the neck remaining; a close-range shot to the stomach with a shotgun will leave an enemy's bowels in a bloody mess, and a shot to the nether regions will cause the victims to clutch their groin in agony for a few seconds before keeling over dead. It is possible to shoot off an enemy's limbs (head, arms, legs) leaving nothing left but a bloody torso. In the last mission there is also a fictional microwave weapon, causing the enemies to fry or explode, depending on the firing mode.
However, nonviolence is a possibility, if the player is a good shot it is possible to shoot an enemy's weapon out of their hand, causing them to cower on the floor to surrender.

Please just walk away. I don't want to have to stand here and say something so awesome that I'll have to remember it the rest of the day. Thank you!

I say bring that back! Imagine seeing a tank roll by you with the lifeless body of the machine gunner slumped over the .50 with just a bloody stump for a head. Imagine watching your squad leaders arm blow off as he attempts to throw that grenade back. Imagine your medic desintegrate in a hail of bullets from a minigun blast!

PTS here we come!
