Thanks to Lunkens for the poop that Digital Battle has a little Battlefield 3 scoop:
A tipster sent us PDF document which looked like an outline of features for Battlefield 3. The three page document is apparently prepared for investors which should get it by December of this year. It details basic features of BF3, and are as listed:
Two playable factions, NATO and MEC (Middle Eastern Coalition)
Will ship with 8 maps, each supporting up to 40-players per team
Set in year modern day
Possible public beta in “Summer 2008″
Release in late 2008
When asked if this was real, EA replied: "No comment".

wow. Upping the player limit to 80 per game. That is interesting.

yea maybe so but Joint ops gets kinda boring after about 15minutes or so... Im surprised it even made it to the last Lan or so. I guess it was a good game during it's time and all, but it just doesn't measure up with todays titles.

I have a feeling BF3 will be like BF2 with updated graphics.

We never get everyone on board for an 64 person LAN game. What is 80 going to do for us?

Well the first time we played Joint Ops at a monthly, it was one hell of a blast and we ended up playing that for a long time.

that was because it was the first any of us ever played it and it was fresh but come how many times have you played it since. And the last time we got together i played for about 10 minutes and had to turn it off because the bots are totally retarded or extremely accurate. that and you have to drive live 10 virtual miles to even find anyone. hopefully you have a vehicle and aren't moving on foot. like i said im sure it was a great game in it's day but it's a few generations behind anything else we play.

Agreed. Most of the time was spent traveling and the game felt as if we were just running through checkpoints randomly.
