Anyone else looking into getting Borderlands, it looks pretty interesting.
-
Definitely on my top 3 list for this year!
-
I pre-ordered it on steam the day it became available. Been looking forward to this game for a long time. Friend of mine got it on the xbox and he is loving it. Can't wait to play it co-op. They enabled pre-loading on steam, but it says the servers are too busy atm.
-
I guess ill get it then, it looks pretty cool.
-
it does look good but i'll wait to hear from you guys how good or bad it is.
-
In case anyone is curious about reviews, here is the full list:

I would love too ... not sure if my machine can do it. And i'm gonna be a little short on cash to after the Holidays :bigcry:
-
Just FYI, The requirements listed on Steam are just approximations (not official).
Though someone did find in a magazine called Atomic MPC that "They said the game was running maxed on a laptop with a 2.16ghz dual core processor and a 9800GTX. and at 1920 x 1080 HD!!" So who knows. No official word on reqs.
-
Well, if that's the case I should do fine out my 8800GT!
-
I have Borderlands pre-ordered and preloaded already.
-
Preloadin' it now, w00t!
-
Someone posted the System Requirements taken from the box.
Minimum spec:
2.4 Ghz or equivalent
1 GB Ram (2GB with Vista)
8x DVD Drive
8 GB free HDD space
256 RAM GPU
Recommended:
2.4 Ghz or equivalent
2GB RAM
8x DVD Drive
8 GB free HDD space
256 MB Ram Geforce 9 or Radeon R700 or better.
-
I might have to get this game.
-
I have it pre-ordered and pre-loaded. Ready for some badass matchups at the lan, hopin to have some good gear by then (fingers crossed). Would like to do some PvPing.
-
Also, in case people aren't aware, when you beat this game, it unlocks Game+ where you are able to play through it again to reach max lvl of 50. But the enemies get tougher, more of them, and better loot. Of course, when you play co-op there's a Crapload of enemies, tougher, and even better loot still. So the difficulty can definitely ramp up a lot.
-
Anyone up for a game on the 26th?
-
I probably will be
-
I have off all day tomorrow!! lol
-
Ditto
-
Pre-Ordered and Pre-Loaded I'm game!

-

-
I got called into EFFIN WORK!!!!!!!!!!!! The people I have a meeting with are requesting to stay late also... so Ill be on as soon as I get home.
-
I've been playing it today, I like it a lot! Can't wait to see peoples chars. and gear at the LAN.
-
so, cypher and i just spent the last hour trying to get a coop game going
nothing we did could get it to work. We are always getting a timeout error after a ~15 second countdown.
From reading up on the steam forums (Borderland forums are offline right now), a ton of people are complaining about multi-player issues too. Apparently you have to open up your firewalls wide, enable port forwarding to the following ports:
7777 (TCP/UDP)
28900 (TCP)
27900 (UDP)
28910 (TCP)
and then pray. Well, nothing worked for us and we both gave up. A bunch of people on the forums said there was nothing they could do to get theirs to work... while others said they were able to get it to work.
Anyone else have problems?
-
I had problems for about 15 min, until i found that those aren't the only ports you need to open.
Here ya go. I played for 5hrs after.
To host an online game, the following ports need to be opened / pushed to the host's internal IP address:
6500 (TCP/UDP)
9989 (TCP/UDP)
7777 (TCP/UDP)
28900 (TCP)
27900 (UDP)
28910 (TCP)
-
I had zero problems. Worked fine, no port forwarding needed. I was playing with 3 other people for a few hours. *shrug*
-
I noticed once that I did get a connection timeout from trying to join a game, but then my friend just remade the lobby again and it worked after that. But that was the only time we had an issue.
-
Also, if you want to disable in game voice chat, since there is no push to talk (yet) and it seems to be always on, you can disable it by going to "Steam\steamapps\common\borderlands\Engine\Config\BaseEngine.ini" then scrolling to the last line in that file and change "bHasVoiceEnabled=" from True to False.
Although, I'm having the unfortunate problem where my TS push to talk key isn't working in game. It works fine when my TS window is in focus. Dunno why it just now started doing that.

Agent/Vice/Nstuff does your router support UPnP?
-
I believe mine does. And I found the reason I was able to play flawlessly last night is due to the person who was hosting doesn't use a firewall at all (he set his router to DMZ). I haven't tried hosting a game yet.
-
it does... but it has been known to be flaky. It's an older netgear 802.11g router. I purposefully disabled the port triggering feature as i like to control port forwards manually, but upnp is enabled.
-
I gotta put my system in the DMZ or open a pile of ports I guess.
Anyone have any sweet corrosive SMG's yet? I just discovered how awesome they could be. I got my char up to lvl 20 and I gotta step away for a few.
-
In SP, I got a lvl 7 orange SMG (the rarest kind, I assume) that has a base dmg of 16 with an x3 electric modifier. Not too bad for lvl 7 lol. One-shotting skags was fun. I'm only lvl 13. What does the corrosive effect do?
-
Combine the anti-flesh of fire with the anti-shield of electric and you get corrosive. My siren has a class advantage with the corrosive weapons (Electric and fire too).
I need a few more xp unlocks and I will be able to kill with melee and jump back into invisibility almost immediately (Health and armor rebuild quickly while invisible too), A corrosive spewing SMG would be bananas for the times I couldn't jump away.
-
So ummmm...I 'have' this game and I think I can join online games. I see you have to add friends (through gamespy I believe). My 'friend' name is seanryan52. Also....any details I would need to know about joining one of your games?
-
Things to note, in case you weren't aware, or just for future reference:
To join a private friend hosted game, you can't join it from the friends list in-game. The people inside the server need to invite you. Also, when you join the host's game, you are joining their version of the world, in other words, their current quests.
Like if you had higher lvl quests that you were currently on in your game, but you join your friends game who is lower level and doesn't have that quest, yours won't be carried over.
Other than that, I think just adding people to each others friends list should be the gist to get it working, and that whole deal with opening ports if you wish to be the host.
My gamespy ID is 'Agent4054'
-
Potrts schmorts...I fear no ports.....yes I will open them. And this is NOT a cracked game FYI.
-
My gamespy ID is MPetch. I didn't have time to play much last night (maybe an hour), but I got to lvl 5 as a Hunter.
The sniper rifle is the suck so far, but Im sure it gets better with upgrades.
-
If anyone wants to play I got a lvl 22 siren that kicks a**.
-
I take it Zx2Slow....that is your gamespy name?
-
yup
-
I guess I will be getting this game this week. I just got a $5 gift card from Bestbuy today.
-
Curse_desreveR on gamespy
-
I want to know if the DLC is going to be free for PC users? It is $10 for PS3 and Xbox360.

I don't think you need the extra ports but may work for some. I got it working with the ports listed in the readme. There is a but where your first CO-OP game people can't connect but if you stop then start a new one it works.
7777 (TCP/UDP)
28900 (TCP)
27900 (UDP)
28910 (TCP)
btw my gamespy name is Fr4g0u7.

I have a level 37 Brick. Attached is my weapon of choice for the first playthrough:

My gamespy id is fndragon, and I use Tunngle to do virtual LAN gaming connection. It's pretty simple, check this walkthrough out:

I need a Harmonious Panacea Shield that is orange, level dosent matter, and a orange SMG with a x4 corrosive (any orange weapon with a x4 corrosive for that matter).
My current pupple Harmonious Panacea Shield has like 1600 with a 220 recharge and quick health regen. I wonder if a orange one will be like 2000 or something insane.
-
Yall are gonna make me start playing this... so is it worth the monies?
-
The story sucks balls, but its a fun time waster. I already beat the second playthrough and getting sortof bored of the game already. Seems like a game that I might play through again though if I get bored of other games. It's just fun to shoot things.
-
Its worth it, I'm waiting on the DLC because right now its just a loot/achevement chase because theres nothing else to do after the second playthrough.
-
I only got to lvl 15 (I think) and I am semi bored with it already. Don't take my word on it though, I didn't even play through once yet.
