Title: A Call for Potential Sponsors!
Post by: Czar on July 03, 2009, 12:46:34 PM
The FITES Staff is working hard behind the scenes to bring the details together for our next large scale event.

With me being the Sponsorship dude, I want to get you blokes the most gear, toys, swag, and general free stuff I possibly can.

So, please post your ideas for potential sponsors. If you've seen a certain sponsor at a previous FITES LAN, there's no need to suggest them here. We're looking for new, untapped resources that may want to hop on board and sponsor a killer event like this.

Links to websites work the best but if anyone has "in's" with a certain company/site (personalized contact info) feel free to drop a PM for privacy reasons.

Otherwise, show me das links!

Capcom
manapotions.com - I've read it's like being on drugs, just without the drugs.
Taco Bell
3dRealms, but I'm sure they'll say they'll sponsor but just never show up

Just figured I'd brainstorm a few names.

Axe Body Spray (or similar). No one wants to sit next to that guy who never showers.

It's not that he never showers, it's that he's just so vigorous with the fleshlight

How about:

Or are we already an affiliate?

I would say 2502 Designs. But that is a once in a lifetime thing. I am sure Shawn would be up for painting another case. But her health issues concern me. I might donate another case. Have not decided yet.

Not to go too far off topic, for the record I don't drink: whiskey, gin, vodka, scotch, Jager, Rum, or  Tequila for the Taste.  I want to feel the burn. :angryfire:

Go get a wine cooler and eat some hippie bars (http://www.nutribiotic.com/fruit-snax-energy-bars.html) maybe they can be a sponsor.

Not knowing what a fleshlight was...I searched google images and found this (in addition to all the real FL pics):

Im not sure if Bawls or Red Bull would insist on being exclusive but if we can get Tenticle Grape on board i think that would be RAWsome.

http://www.tentaclegrape.com/

Also flesh lights are a little too far over the line if we will allow folks under 18 to attend, but would be legendary in the world of LAN party's if that happened,  also wasnt there a motorized usb gizmo that was discussed as well?

Thanks for the ideas, nitro, but to anyone, please remember, coming up with ideas are one thing, but having a way to execute those ideas are another. Please keep in mind what Czar said in his OP:

We can all rattle off a dozen companies without blinking, but if you have an "in" with a company in some way, that is the best (by a mile!) versus just trying the scattergun approach and contacting businesses cold.

but... but... scattergun means shotgun and if Doom taught us anything, it's that shotguns are cool.

Well, we can all point fingers, or some of us can do some leg work.  Here are some links for affiliate programs.  I assume they are mostly "web" affiliates, but it might assist getting a foot in the door.

Newegg (http://secure.neweggmall.com/Affiliates/SignUp.aspx)
BestBuy (https://signup.cj.com/member/brandedPublisherSignUp.do?air_refmerchantid=2045991)
EB (http://www.ebgames.com/gs/help/affiliate.aspx)
Radio Scrap (http://www.radioshack.com/affiliate/index.jsp)
Turkey Hill (https://www.turkeyhill.com/general/contact-us.asp) (Ice Cream?)
Apple (http://www.mdlottery.com/) (Good Luck)
Staples (http://www.staples.com/sbd/content/about/affiliate/)

What about T-Shirt sites?
Spilt-Reason (http://www.splitreason.com/affiliate_register.php)
T-Shirt Hell (http://www.tshirthell.com/affiliates.htm)
T-shirts.com (http://www.t-shirts.com/pages/affiliate-program)
Cafe Press (https://www.cafepress.com/cp/members/join.aspx)
I can't find one for www.noisebot.com (http://www.noisebot.com)
There are more of course ...

My next suggestion is maybe have rotating banners so the home page doesn't look the side of a Nascar.

to be honest what ive done in the past is simply go to the local store of the company i want to sponsor my event and talk to the manager and believe it or not i was surprised at how many companies were willing to sponsor.  Some did have to contact the district manager for approval but a week of waiting and i got my answer.  I found applying on a site yields no results or even a reply most of the time but i did get nvidia to bite once.

Many of our sponsors do not have a local store... This is very true of the ones that actually reply/sponsor. I believe we have gotten more from non-local sources.

I see that Alienware is a sponsor for the GXL.  And gamecorecon.com is also a sponsor of theirs.
