Have the tournaments been finalized?  Some have a lot of details regarding rules/maps, (UT3, BF3, minecraft) others list little or nothing.  For example, Halo lists nothing.  L4D2 lists 3 maps, no mention of best of (1, 3, 5), map order or a 4th, 5th map if needed.  You guys don't expect more than 8 teams for L4D2, 3 rounds?

Like Czar said we often have to make minor adjustments the day of to compensate for how many people sign up. I have adjusted to posting to make it more clear for L4D2.

But I really just wanted to comment on L4D2 number of teams. Last year we had exactly 8 but the year before we had 11. So yeah, we had to recycle a map because I think there were only 3 maps to choose from. On an exciting side note I hope to get the guys from eXtv to cast the finals.

This isn't our first rodeo. If we get more than 8 teams, we'll certainly adjust. As info is available, we'll post it. For now, the tourney selections are finalized.

Come on now, you go from a ruleset of 3 maps Atrium, Swamp, Park when I asked the question to this:

"This tournament will be scavenge mode.

Map Rotation will be random from the current pool of official maps.

Best Of 3 or 5, will be decided based upon participation level.

Best of 5 for finals."

It's like we are being punished for asking legitimate questions, meanwhile clans wanting to play UT3 or BF3 can actually practice a bit with complete rulesets:

rules:
Map rotation

Round 1 - Seine Crossing
Round 2 - Operation Firestorm
Round 3 - Kharg Island
Round 4 - Grand Bazaar (if needed)
Round 5 - Caspian Border (if needed)

server settings:
8 v 8 Conquest
2 Rounds per Map
300 Tickets

The highest total ticket from both rounds wins.
__________

Rules:
UT3 5v5 CTF Tournament

Maps:
First level of matches
CTF-OmicronDawn
LVL1_Tourney_1 (1-4)

Second level of matches
CTF-Reflection
LVL2_Tourney_1 (1-4)

Third level of matches (if we have one)
CTF-Vertebrae
LVL3_Tourney_1 (1-4)

Fourth level of matches (if we have one)
CTF-LostCause
LVL4_Tourney_1 (1-4)

Last match (final remaining two teams)
CTF-FacingWorlds
LVL5_Tourney_1 (1-4)

Rules:
Must have legit copy of UT3 with latest patch to play.
Must be fully patched and ready at time
Single elimination
Goal Score: First team to 3 points wins

server settings:
No bots
Force Respawn enabled
All weapons available (per default map settings)
No instant gib
No time limit
All players must be ready to start

That's fine, your lan/tournament, you make the rules. I was just asking for a little clarification in regards to some games having detailed rule sets and others with few, L4D2 being one example.  This is crew's 4th year coming and more members want to attend each year.  Some of our members are new to the older games and we were trying to narrow down what needed to be gone over, hence the request for clarification.  I must have ticked someone off because you went from a rule set list of 3 maps before I asked my question to a "clarification" of a random selection of official maps of which their are 18....really more of a punishment than a clarification.  Like I said, your lan your rules, whatever, I just don't understand the stark contrast in rule sets between BF3/UT3, and L4D2.  BF3 outlines specific maps, which order they are played, how many rounds per map, tickets per round, and simple "if needed" behind 2 maps to easily scale between 8-32 teams depending on interest.  A new person can easily pick up the game focus on the first 3-5 maps in the rules and feel confident enough to participate.

How about this?

Maps will be played in this order (as needed for the number of rounds) with "No Mercy - Rooftop Finale" as the map for the finals.

Dark Carnival - Motel
The Parish - Park
Dead Center - Mall Atrium
Swap Fever - Plank Country
Crash Course - The Alleys
Hard Rain - Milltown
Death Toll - The Church

If there are more rounds than these maps listed we will repeat the list from the beginning.

Unless you have a map that you desperately wish to play this will be the list.

I don't need to pick maps, just wanted a more concise list so some people new to the game have some insight on what to focus on.  It's hard to find a pub not playing rooftop let alone brickyard or some others I'm glad didn't make the list.  I didn't mean to rock the boat, I'm sure you guys have a lot of prep work in the final month before the lan and as always it is appreciated.  :hail: See you all on the 22nd.

You are still going to see rooftop as a final. My reasoning for picking it is it can be pretty exciting to watch. And even if it's not cast with commentary I will stream it.

It is very exciting to watch, I'm hoping some of us make it to park at least lol. Looking forward to everything you guys have planned,  Thanks again.

I know it won't be a part of the tournament list, but I just wanted to say that since Aliens: Colonial Marines comes out soon that I expect to see no less than 5 co-op servers running at all times.
