Nvidia pulled this driver after it was found it has been clobbering video cards, do not run 196.75!
-
Any details?
-
I'm running them and it seems to be ok....What exactly is it killing?
UPDATE: Apparently this driver affects the fan speed control causing the GPU to overheat. If you use a program such as Riva tuner to utilize fan profiles, you are probably ok. I have the 196.75 drivers on my 8800GTx2 SLI and 8800GTX OC and neither have had temperature issues since I use Riva tuner to directly control the fan speeds.
If you are unsure about your gpu temps, I would roll back to the previous driver.

I read in some cases the fans stop all together and the gpu's are burning up. I rolled my drivers back.

Wait it's Nvidia drivers that are teh suck not ATI? Something must be going on... :headscratch:
-
Luckily I always keep an eye on my temps and Fan duty cycle. If it drops, I drop everything and correct it. LCD Studio FTW!

Liquid Cooling FTW! So quiet, and if something does catch fire, the tubes melt and put it out...
