Hi, I'm new to FITES so forgive me if this has been posted anywhere.
The most information I could find on games being played was in the FITES flyer, so I'm curious if you have any info yet on what kind of tournaments we're looking at for the 150 ML and if you have any prizes lined up for said tournies. I've got a few friends who may be interested in going as well if we can find any tournies we're interested in...thanks in advance!

We're still working out all of the details..........
-
In the past 100 man events, there have been tournaments for Battlefield 1942, Battlefield 2, UT2k4, and CS. The events go from DM 1x1 in UT, to 6x6 in the Battlefields. I would assume something similar for the 150 man.

...but that said, nothing's final until we say it's final, and that's subject to further revision.
In other words, the LAN is in August, today is April 30. We've still got a lot of work ahead of us so we can bring you the best LAN experience you've ever had, but rest assured that we're working very hard behind the scenes to put together a kickass LAN for all, not just tourney players.
So when registration kicks off tomorrow, sign up anyway, regardless of tournament(s) status. You won't regret it. We've got some good stuff in the works :)
Oh, and :welcome:

Welcome to FITES! How did you find us??
To answer your question (and this may be echoeing above statements). We usually wait until about 3 weeks prior to the event to announce tournaments/schedule. This is done so that we can keep flexibility! If we have a lot of people who want a game, and they have already paid, we will listen to them and give them extra consideration.
The idea is to make as many people happy as possible with the game selections... but we also realize that we can never make EVERYONE happy all of the time.
That said, I am positive that we will have BF1942 6v6, BF2 6v6, UT 2004 DM, and CS:S 6v6. We will probably also do 1 or 2 more tourney's on top of that.

I was able to find you guys on http://www.lanparty.com when I was searching for lan parties within a reasonable distance from where I live.
I'm glad to see that you will most likely have a ut2k4 tourney, as that's one of the games my friends and I like to play. It would be cool to see a team ut2k4 game (CTF or ONS maybe?) as I'm tired of taking prizes away from my friends. ;)
Thanks for the info and I look forward to hearing more as we get closer to August. :)

Just FYI, we have a smaller lan coming up next weekend, and there is 1 seat left! Its about 25 people, and not very formal... we just get together, game, eat, and chill... no tourneys, just for fun.
If you'd like to get to know us, sign up via the front page and join us! I am sure that we could squeeze 1 more in if you wanted to bring a friend!

Sorry I didn't reply earlier, but I've been a bit busy. Unfortunately, I wouldn't be able to make that one as I still have a few weeks left here in Iraq.
I'm just trying to plan some gaming fun for when I finally get out of this sand-filled paradise.
-
Damn, you're in Iraq???
You are the first overseas soldier we've had grace our presence! Can you tell us a bit about yourself?
-
Well, I'm 21 years old and I've been in the USAF as a network administrator for 3 years now and have been in Iraq for the past few months or so.
Thankfully, attacks at this base have been pretty scarce until recently. Just a few days ago we got word that insurgents are moving closer to our area and even a few Italians (yeah, we have Italians on this base) were killed in an explosion not even 6 miles from our gate.
The most I've really had to deal with here is the dust/sand storms and the occasional camel spider (those things are agressive as hell). One time it even rained during a sand storm...creating a mud storm...that sucked. Most of us live in 6-man tents with bed sheets sectioning off our areas to give us at least some kind of privacy.
As far as my life back home, I'm married (no kids so far) and work net admin/help desk at Andrews AFB near D.C. My wife plays games too, so I don't get the dreaded "STOP PLAYING THE GAME AND PAY ATTENTION TO ME!".
Anywho, I've gotta run and i've probably typed too much anyway...later!

LOL hey bro, we love that you are joining us! I can only imagine what you are going through over there... come home safe... ya know... so we can kill ya here! (gaming)
-
It would be an honor to have you come and play games with us. You and your brethren are doing us a great service.
-
No, it would be an honor for me to play games with Mr. Potatohead dressed up as darth vader!
come home safe... ya know... so we can kill ya here!
We'll see about that! I come to LANs without a monitor...oh yeah...I'm that good. :flex:
If you guys have a ut2k4 tourney in some form then I'll be there for sure (maybe even with friends if it's a team game). Dunno why, but I love me some ut2k4.
-
Oh yeah, we are doing UT2K4.
