Title: 100 man Lan network setting...how does it work?
Post by: Czar on December 13, 2005, 11:16:21 AM
Ive never been to any other lan that one that I've hosted..so I'm not sure what to expect regarding network settings. At mine, we set our workgroup to the same name ("CzarLink") then let the switch assign IP's. Also, some games..mainly RTS i think, require the IPX protocall installed and that each comp have a different IPX number or else people can't see eachother in the game lobby to join eachother.

Is that how it goes at other lans (namely the 100 man) or do I just do it a stupid way?

Have a 10/100/1000 MB network card installed and configured with the latest drivers

Make sure that TCP/IP protocol is installed

Set your network card to use DHCP

thats it.

If your game REQUIRES IPX... The game is old as dirt. Why don't I go grab my novell 3.12 server... Yes I know where one is that I can grab.

Well im not sure it requires it but its what we use. Of course I'm open to any other (easier) way to get it to work.
