All too often the whole idea of E3 comes down to the
"Console War", and even though I've been a console player of more platforms than I care to admit I've pretty much left the world of consoles behind. Seriously, my 360 is nothing more than a Plex streaming box for me, and a crappy one at that.
But now with those guys done talking we can finally get to seeing some games. Take for instance this beautiful gem that was announced:
Tom Clancy's The Division is a fully social game that allows you come in and out of the game as you need and even has support for in game trading (no word on hats as yet). Currently game company Ubisoft has not announced PC support, instead saying the game is "[p]owered by our new game engine Snowdrop™, tailor-made for next-gen consoles." But not all is lost since the game also has tablet support, that allows you to tap into the game on your smart phone or tablet to participate with your team as well.
I have no doubt the line about the next gen consoles is meant as way to stay on people's minds during the console love fest that is E3, but I do fear that PC support and controls will be added on more as an after thought. I'm sure it won't take long for anyone to recall a game they have played on PC where the control mechanisms were geared more towards having a controller in your hands than a mouse and keyboard.
While we wait for more news on this game be sure to join our forums and let us know your thoughts on the current state of E3, PC gaming, and what you hope to see more of. Also, don't forget that
registration is open for our summer LAN party. Stay tuned for tournament announcements!
