Status of FITES Summer LAN 2014

Everyone,

I received a message asking for an update so I thought I figured I should post one up. We have been letting people know in passing, but there has been enough asking about it that we should make an announcement.

There are no plans to do a summer LAN event.

We have plans to do a Mini-LAN in the near future, but there is no plan on having a major LAN event over the summer. Currently we are in the planning phase of our normal February LAN event. We are approaching our 6 month out time frame which means the staff are getting their ducks in a row now.

I hope this helps to clear up the air for some people. If  you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please do post them. We look forward to getting your feedback as a community on this,

Hopefully, we will have more than one mini-Lan before our annual Feb LAN. The Feb 2015 LAN is looking really good though. This will definitely be our best one yet.

Just curious, is there any reasons in particular for not having the big summer event?

The turn out last year was not as well as we had hoped for the event. Also, there is a lot of planning involved with booking the hotel and making sure that staff schedules can accommodate being at the event. In order to make sure that any major LAN event is the top quality people have come expect from FITES we decided to not do a major summer event and focus on having an outstanding February event.

This does not mean we will never have a summer event again, but for now we need to hone in our efforts.
