Title: LANFest FITES 250 gamer LAN is Official!
Post by: MahoneyRed on December 02, 2013, 09:41:49 AM: Perhaps you already got the email, maybe you haven't checked your inbox over the gluttony holiday weekend. Either way, let it be known far and wide that FITES has opened up ticket sales for their annual February event!

FITES is once again teaming up with LANFest to get 250 gamers all in the same room; stink and all. Seriously, I will enforce bathing restrictions this year. I refuse to breathe in your recycled BO and let that "no shower for 48 hour" smell settle into my rig.

With the announcement out of the way let's get into a discussion about community and you, the gamer. We could use your help. Spread the word via social media. Like us on Facebook and spread around our upcoming posts about the LAN. More gamers = more fun, for everyone.

Are you a game caster, or do you like to stream your game footage? Contact MahoneyBadger (mahoney [AT] fites [dot] net) and let him know. We would love to help you stream tournaments and games all while at the LAN. Our bandwidth is limited of course so we'll do what we can, but we can't make complete guarantees.

Is this possible or do I have to call.

Instead all I see is a waiver.pdf and some barcode with a number/letter code under it for each seat and each of those is different for every ticket. Do I just print that out and give it to you all at the door to scan?

I wanted to check on the room rates and I found out you can actually get a cheaper rate NOT using the FITES affiliation. Over at travelocity.com the rate is showing $92.65 per night for a room. ($185.30 2 nights) The nice woman told me that the FITES Group rate is $92.00. Nearly the same, but ATM, there is a 15% discount for staying 2 nights (travelocity) which knocks $27.80 off. So...2 nights booked from them is only $157.50. she explained to me that happens from tiime to time. I just figured I'd toss that out for anyone interested in saving some more money.

Post by: uluaz on February 16, 2014, 08:52:58 PM: ^i just cancelled my original booking and booked through travelocity, but still got charged around the same rate ($200ish for both nights.) it seems that the 15% discount was applied BEFORE perhaps, which bumped the nightly rate down to the same rate aas the FITES discount? or am I missing something?

if i can't get the cheaper rate i'm going to cancel and re-book under the fites code, because i'm definitely not trying to bring down the number of rooms booked under your guys' code. im just a broke ass mofo looking for the cheapest rate =P

I am just used to shopping around for the best deal as things tend to get expensive when all the events I attend end up X3. I can't expect my 2 kids to pay their own way...well, not just yet. I don't think I have gone to a LAN (with the kids) where I DIDN'T spend $500 give or take. Considering we usually do 3-4 events a year...it adds up.

Again, I am really sorry if my post screwed things up.

Minimum room bookings are something no one would ever even consider unless you've put on larger LAN's like this. It just doesn't come into play for those basement/garage LAN's ;)

They also scheduled us to work overtime tomorrow night. Screw that noise.
