Title: FITES goes nostalgic, Goldeneye: Source for gamenight!

FITES Faithful,

Do you remember your first multiplayer experience that was beyond 2 players? I remember one. It was called Goldeneye, and it has some fun yet bitter memories. Fun because it was awesome and proxy mines brought out lots of giggles. Bitter because this one guy was God like at the game; knew all the spawn locations, weapon locations, ammo locations, and essentially could not be defeated. 3 v 1? He still wins.

I remember when these polygons were mind blowing.

Anyway, if you were never made aware a fan community out there has recreated the entire experience as a source mod (http://www.moddb.com/mods/goldeneye-source). And whichever one of you plays as the crouching, slapping, Oddjob there will be special punishment for you.

So to play, head on over to the downloads section (http://www.moddb.com/mods/goldeneye-source/downloads) of their site. Be sure to get the FULL VERSION (http://www.moddb.com/mods/goldeneye-source/downloads/noauth-ges-v423-full-installer-exe). Even if you picked this up a long time ago it has had some patches since then. So just uninstall the previous version and load up this new one.

Stay tuned for server info, but as always we'll see you in the Teamspeak server at 9 p.m.

Wow that HTTP DL speed is atrocious... there's a 4.2.3 torrent out there, I'm getting about 1.5MBps off it... I suggest you grab it that way if you need it.

EDIT:  just tested this - all the normal source command line stuff works... so you can set your resolution and run -sw -noborder and all that.  I was getting about a billion FPS with everything maxed out, good stuff.

Sorry, my google results took me to an older version.  I found what I needed.  Although any torrent I found of it had next to no seeders.

I am going to put up a mirror for tonight in just a few and I will edit the first post and this one once complete. I also noticed the terrible speed.

I will be hosting tonight's dedicated server. The IP to connect is:

Server IP: 174.54.15.118:27015
OR Server Hostname: goldeneye.fites.net:27015

It should show up in game browser as FITES GoldenEye Server but if not, enable console and connect manually. You can do this by:

Going to Options Menu --> Keyboard --> Advance --> Enable Console
Press the tilde key ( ~ ) to enable console then do the following command: connect 174.54.15.118:27015
