The highly anticipated Nvidia GTX 480/470 benches!!!
« on: March 27, 2010, 09:13:13 AM »
The new highly anticipated video cards from Nvidia are finally released and many sites have released their benchmarks results.  These results are showing a bit of lackluster performance across most games but increases my come with more mature drivers.  Included is Anandtechs article and review which is always a good read:

FYI for anyone trying to view the above link in FF or Chrome, it may be reported as an attack site. According to Anand's twitter feed, they found that pretty quickly and fixed it, so even though the page is being reported as an attack site, it's now clean.
Please just walk away. I don't want to have to stand here and say something so awesome that I'll have to remember it the rest of the day. Thank you!

I think when he said

he meant FireFox.  Just a feeling.
Never, but never question the engineers judgement.

after looking at these benches a little more closely I see that as the AA and AF are turned up the card scales much better.  This leads me to believe that theres more performance to be had as the drivers mature a bit.  Im curious to see what the refresh has in store?  512 cuda cores and maybe a 32nm process will lower power requirements and heat disapation to a normal level.  I think then this card will shine.  Unfortunetly for Nvidia, Ati's next generation will probably be out by then and nvidia will be competing with a whole new architecture.
