Title: ATI Catalyst 9.10 Drivers Released
Post by: Agent4054 on October 22, 2009, 02:25:54 PM
The official Windows 7 drivers for ATI's range of graphics cards are now available to download (http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_catalyst.aspx).

An overview of what's new can be found on the ATI tech blogimabob (http://blogs.amd.com/play/2009/10/22/ati-catalyst%E2%84%A2-9-10-driver-%E2%80%93-what%E2%80%99s-new/).

I have been using the beta of these drivers for a few weeks, and I have seen substantial performance increases in a majority of my newer games.

Really?  In what games?  The release notes mention no improvement in performance.  Usually that is something they advertise is big bold font.

It fixed a ton of issues in Red Faction: Guerrilla, and boosted my frame rates from sub-30 to over 50. Helped in various other games with graphical glitches, and UT3 doesn't freeze at menus anymore for me.

Weird UT3 never did that for me and I have 4870. Will have to get these drivers. I always update everytime they release a new driver.

Updating caused me a bsod for some random directx file... killed directx in Windows 7 (media center yelled that i didn't have a video card with more than 64mb of memory).  Did an un-install of the drivers, restarted, installed them again and everything is up and running.  First time I've ever had an issue installing an ATI driver.

I'll have to check these out when I get home tonight.  I have been noticing some lackluster performance with my 2x 4850's since I reinstalled with Win7.

I can't wait to build a new rig and get away from these cards!

What you mean not cleaning the crap off you video card? So it gets clogged with all your smoke and tar and runs at 100 Degree C?

theres a lot of people getting a problem with the new drvers.  Their curser gets twice as big as normal.  AMD says it will be fixed by the next drvr release.

"theres a lot of people getting a problem with the new drvers.  Their curser gets twice as big as normal. "

I remember hearing similar story... someone was trying to make a drug for high blood pressure and ended up making people's cursors get big... they named the drug Viagra.  Maybe in ATI's next drivers, they'll give the "feature" a name and charge money for it.
