I am annoyed that I was unable to locate the 4/17/10 Lan Party. I had used Mapquest to get directions for the given address, but it ends up in some industry area. I was unable to find any evidence or indictions of a LAN party. I check out buildings with "101" address. I even knock the door of an apartment with the "101" address and nobody answered.
To top if all off, it takes a hour to get there. :angryfire:
I going to give organizers here the benefit of doubt. Perhaps, there was last minute change or directions were simply too vague.

Well. We're posting this from the event... About 20 of us here.
Here is the paste from the site:
Location:
101 East Franklin Street New Holland, PA 17557
Cost:
$20.00/person
$20.00/person for a block of 5!

Bing has the bird's eye view that shows the building we are in:

Park in the parking lot and come up the steps on the wooden deck and go in the door at the top of the steps.

Furthermore, I'm not sure i would ever use mapquest... i can't even get it to give me the correct location when i search for this place. Though the address it does give is only 1 block away, it appears to be pretty worthless.
I hadn't used it in a long time, and checking it out today, it sucks pretty badly.
-
I blame Crapty street signage + Mapquest for this one.
The only place I didn't look was the "Community Center". It look like a local police station to me. I figured you didn't use that building.
In hindsight, I should have brought my laptop to wardrive for verification and troubleshooting.
I feel like a big idiot. :'(
-
Community Center? Hmm. I`m trying to figure out where you ended up.
-
no problems finding it here for me. I am an hour away also. Just took rt 30 to 23. Made a right onto S. Roberts Ave. then left into the parking lot. Didnt even need to write it down.
-
yea that first time went up i used mapquest too and it put me a few blocks away. I had to call Czar to get it right.
-
I learned the lesson that MapQuest sucks a long time ago. Right about the time it told me to drive down a street and then make a left onto the interstate. That would have been great, had I been able to levitate my car the 30 feet up it would have taken for me to reach the overpass of said interstate.

Google Maps > Mapquest
-
Although mapquest = fail in comparison to every other mapping website out there....it does put you exactly where the lan is/was.
EDIT: I had a pic to attach but the forums doesn't like it or something.

Zoom in with the aerial map, and that building that's right above the star....that's your destination.

Yeah this:

You know what's even worse/ironic about Mapquest? They're a local company and they can't even get directions right for a place that's not even 10 miles from one of their offices!
Edit: Oh, I see why now. They have interns (https://sjobs.brassring.com/1033/ASP/TG/cim_searchresults.asp?type=mail&PartnerId=25237&SiteId=36&Language=1&Function=mailtofriend&verityquery=(+PartnerId%3D25237+)%3C%23AND%3E(+SiteId%3D'36'+)+%3C%23AND%3E(dateopen+%3C%3D+2010/04/19)%3C%23AND%3E(dateclosed+%3E%3D+2010/04/19)%3C%23AND%3E(+%3CANY%3E(533004)+%3CIN%3E+ReqId)&SearchLanguageList=all&view=View+jobs) doing their mapping programming!
-
i didn't know they had an office in Lancaster. Pretty crazy. Probably the president lives nearby and they opened an office so he doesn't have to fly out to the main office all the time. ;)
Well, as I said before, Mapquest used to be *THE* place to get your maps. And in the last 10 years, they haven't done anything. I'm pretty amazed how behind the times they are.
But then i look them up on wikipedia and i get all my questions answered: "MapQuest was acquired in 2000 by America Online"
-
"MapQuest was acquired in 2000 by America Online"
LMAO! I had no idea, but yeah that explains a lot.

Holy irony batman!
I never knew that one of Mapquest offices was in Lancaster area. :elaugh:
-
you may have been closer to that office than the LAN o.O
Did you google map it and loot to see if you could spot the streetview of where you were?
