Tournament Request: Rocket League
« on: January 19, 2016, 02:55:46 PM »
Rocket league great in popularity like crazy this year, and according to the intranet page, we have almost 90 people from here who have the game. Any chance we could implement a 3v3 or 1v1 tourney at the 250 lan this year?

I may be out of line or premature in saying that it is being strongly pursued.  We as FITES are working at trying to make this happen.

We are putting our best effort into making sure we can have a RL tourney.  Due to the fact that Psyonix does NOT have LAN dedicated servers, we have to consider our internet bandwidth available at the time.  We will be working towards making the experience seamless.  When we decide if and what we want to do with the tourney will be listed along with the others.

On a side note....I LOVE Rocket League and this is my ONLY gripe with RL and Psyonix.  If they want this to be a competitive Esport (and it certainly has the potential) they NEED to give the players the ability to setup dedicated LAN servers for practice and/or private matches/tourneys.
That's Mr. Deception to you.

Absolutely 100% agree. I could definitely see Rocket League getting huge in competition like CSGO and TF2. Also I believe there are 1v1 and 3v3 tourneys to sign up for now for the LAN. SIGN UP!

Really, really glad these ended up becoming a reality! Only gripe is that the 3v3 tournament in particular took over EIGHT hours to complete... will elaborate more on this in the FITES 2016 Feedback thread. Thanks again and I cannot wait to see where Rocket League is a year from now!
