Thanks for throwing this post up h4gg4rd. This was my 9th consecutive year of going to FITES and each year my group has a blast. The staff, chill atmosphere, fun competition in tournaments and catching up with friends is the reason that myself and several others keep coming back each year. I'm already looking forward to next year's event which will be my 10th year of attending

That said, I'll be happy to provide some feedback which hopefully won't be taken the wrong way, I just want the event to be as smooth and as fun as possible.
After talking with my group, it seems like we all feel that for that last few years the delays with the CS GO tournament seem to have a trickle down affect to any other tournaments happening near the same time. I know that tournies in general can run late, start early, etc. things happen and I get that. CS GO seems to be its own seperate category though.
In 2016, my team for the Rocket League tournament had to wait 4+ hours for a CS GO match(es?) to finish since they were also playing in the same tournament as we were. Last year at the Gettysburg venue I didn't hear of any issues, but this past weekend it seemed like the Overwatch tournament (happened after CS GO) was affected as there were several folks also playing in the CS GO tourny and due to how late it ran I think they just dropped out because they probably didn't feel like doing another tournament right after, and I understand that. I believe the Overwatch tournament ended before CS GO but it started several hours after CS GO.
I have been following professional CS since 1.6, so I can certainly understand how long tournaments can take, especially if its double elimination, and if then it goes into OT (multiple OTs), etc. You could really draw it out all weekend if you wanted to, but my suggestion would be to either have CS on Friday night, or to have it as the last tournament on Saturday night, to try and minimize the effect it will have on the other tournaments. In the past CS has typically been the first tournament on Sat morning, but that meant it went until 4 or 5 PM (which is what happened in 2016).
I would be curious to hear from Ballistics and from the other folks at Club Conflict to get their thoughts on what could be done to minimize delays with CS GO. I understand that the participants of the tourney also needed to sign up on the Club Conflict website and download/install some software, so maybe an announcement could have been made in advance to get at least some folks to do that ahead of time to save a bit of time? Maybe the format of the tournament could be single elimination rather than double and it could be best of 3? I personally feel like that would take a bit less time.
I'm really not trying to call anyone out, just wondering if any improvements could be made going forward.
I'm looking forward to the next event. Thanks for taking the time to read this and see you all next year!
Also, I'm glad to see FITES game nights are making a comeback! Might have to join you guys tonight for some BF4
