Just got my PC back up and running. Got a newer case to build something good. I have made this thread obviously to discuss and express everyone's thoughts on the event. I had a good time, although I will probably not be bringing three monitors with me next time. Way to much of a hassle, the BF3 tournament although a bit late. I thought went surprisingly well. The time frame I know was of no fault to the staff. It is a Origin game after all and the staff did their utmost to make it work. And for that I am grateful.
Hope everyone had a safe trip home and hope to see you all next year. Going to have that FrozenQ case with me next year.

I'm pretty sure the FITES 200 (wo)man LAN gets better every year. Must be the awesomely cool staff! :) Thank you all again for your hard work in putting it together, I know that all of us appreciate it greatly. Can't wait for next year!

Really enjoyed myself. This was my 3rd year and it gets better each time. Not that we won them, but the Trophies were bad ass as well as the dog tags. Food was well organized this year as well and available for extended periods.
My three bitches, time allotted to tournaments. Tournaments should start regardless of if they overlap another tournament TF2 runs late every year which pushes everything else back, or TF2 should be the last tourney of the night, L4D2 was only started at 1:30AM. It would be nice if every tournament team could be finalized Friday night already with the standings chart made up so people would know who they are against, when they are against them, and in what server. If the other team doesn't show up in 20 minutes or so they forfeit. If games overlap those attendees would have to pick which game they really want to play.
Raffle tickets, drawing for this was supposed to be 5PM. Terrible time being that most people eat then, and unless you wanted chicken fingers and chips for the 4th time you had to leave the hotel. It would have been ok, had it started then, but the TF2 tourney pushed it back till around 8PM. An announcement should have been made shortly after 5PM when it was obvious it was going to be delayed for a while that it would be rescheduled for 9pm or something. That way people would know they could get food and be back by in time instead of just waiting.
A projector or two would be handy, thought you guys had them previous years. One with an admin spectator of one of the tournaments going on so people can watch, and another with current schedules or info so you can walk by and in a glance you could see changes or important info.
Other than that, was prolly the best year of the 3 I have attended and look forward to next year. Was going to try for the GXL for the first time this year, but I guess they aren't having one so FITES 2013 it is!

I second the comment about having a schedule + projector combo to keep people informed. This also gives high visibility to pick-up games and alternate events such as giant games of prophunt and whatnot :).
I'd also like to voice an argument against putting the raffle mid-day on Saturdays: I missed the traditional "Wrap-up" meetings that occurred on Sunday mornings. Those usually instilled a sense of community, whereas this year Sunday morning everybody was mostly packed up and out of the building after 2-3am. Moving the raffle up seemed to shorten the event by a day, as people were packing up and leaving after their events were finished.
Also, there should be a trophy awarded for "Loudest snorer". Presented without comment. :)

Hey all, (CAUTION :: WALL OF TEXT At least read the first two paragraphs and the last two!)
First off, this was my first FITES lan. I flew from California to make it and battle it out with my great friends and I had an AMAZING time. I haven't felt like that since 2005 at a CS tournament in Pittsburgh! Great event and nicely organized as far as I can tell. If you are trying to put a face to a name, I am the tall guy with the black Pirates hat and a full beard wearing the black Vitality Gaming t-shirt with the name ntgCleaner on the back. (Hi, if we didn't meet)
My impressions (which could be taken as final thoughts):
Unfortunately, flying from California takes a long ass time to begin with (7.5 hrs travel time) then, getting delayed in Cleveland (of all places) for 6 hours due to "mechanical issues" on a crop duster just pisses me off and scares me a little. So, I unfortunately missed the opening of the event and the UT3 tournament. Oh well. I guess I'll have to see it next year.
When I got there, I was greeted by very friendly staff (I assume if I had gotten there on time, they would have been waiting at the front table) by the vending machines and was shown into the event by The Shoctor (Thank you again, sir!). Wow, I thought, That's a lot of people and that's a lot of glowing lights! Walking in, I thought I had a sense of how large the room was but I was completely mistaken and underestimated the size of how many people there were. I actually thought at one point "oh, this is one of those places with mirrors on the walls to make it look bigger". But no - I was wrong, it was just a big ass room with a lot of sweaty people...
Eventually The Shoctor and I found the Vitality Gaming banner and I found my spot among old best friends from college. Here is where the whirlwind of adventure and time began. From this moment on, I didn't know what time it was until I went to bed. It was all just a big whirlwind.
in the first 24 hours of no sleep blur, I felt a little lost. Of course, I had my set up - I installed all the drivers I needed on a friends machine (Thanks Gri3v!) and set up all of the settings I needed. But after that, I felt like I needed to be doing something (besides practicing). In the front of my mind, I was telling myself; "there's nothing you need to do until a tournament that you signed up for happens" but in the back of my mind, I felt like I needed to be somewhere... Again, this could all lead to the fact that I didn't attend the opening where they may have given this vital information.
Anyways, in that time, I got to meet a lot of great people and put faces to names. It's always surreal to hear a voice and recognize it before you know what the ugly mug on the other side looks like (Just kidding, no one's ugly.... Except that one guy. Did you all see him?!!) <-- That's a joke if you're that paranoid
One big gripe I had was the lack of information in non-internet form. I would have loved to see a whiteboard or something with a grid on it that showed competition times or winners of competitions or something like that. Or as previously mentioned, some projectors, but projecting this same information.
I would also like to see the FITES "HeadQuarters" in the middle of the room, rather than being all the way at one end of the room. Being able to see what was happening, for me is key and you can get people's attention much easier. I felt this way especially for the raffle drawing. Having to wait for people who were playing a game walk alllll the way down. oh - and, come on guys, a little more intensity from the crowd? These guys are giving away some nice free stuff! at least a couple claps?! Anyways - I was playing some BF3 as they started to announce and I had my headphones on and I was really intense in the game. I would like to see some more indication of when there's an announcement made. Like flash the lights before making a big announcement like that. Those Logitech G35 headphones don't allow outside noise in!
As for the timing of events. I get it - technical issues. I can see that as the only thing holding back a tournament (DAMN YOU ORIGIN). But when we had to wait for a person for 20-30 minutes.... That got annoying. My suggestion would be to have the server for that particular game up for 30 minutes before the "Setup" of the round which would also be indicated on some sort of whiteboard or projector screen. So anyone can jump in, have their obligatory crash and BE THERE for the start of the match. If the player is not there - it's their fault. I don't want that team DQ'ed so they can have the option of starting without them. Also - no ready checks. Yes. It sucks when someone crashes or something happens when everyone is getting ready but we’re all in the same room. BE THERE OR DON’T PLAY.
Also, if it gets pushed back, make an announcement with a time to be back. You guys did a great job organizing this and most of the time this happened, but I would like to be able to come look at some physical thing that shows times, like a departure board at an airport (sorry, I’m still reeling from the first flight). When the time changes, so does the whiteboard or projector.
As for the rewarding of the awards, I felt it was a bit lack-luster. My team got the chance to play some awesome people in BF3 (among others) and we were fortunate enough to win. When we were called down to claim our prize, they said “they are over there on the table. Grab them and we’ll take a picture”. Listen – I understand there’s a lot of stuff going on and I don’t expect an award ceremony or anything like that and I can’t thank you guys enough for doing everything! But I’m human, and just like everyone else; I like to be cheered for! Building on with the rest of what I said up there, it would be nice to have an attention getting (flashing lights) announcement and possibly someone at least handing a trophy to the players. If you’re interested, I am a User Experience expert and may have more suggestions to implement for next year!
Remember FITES guys, these are only Suggestions and NOT Criticisms. You guys really know how to throw a good LAN. I had a [explatory]ing Amazing Time. And it was worth every penny of cost to get there and every minute of listening to the wife ask why I would spend that much going here to play games but not organize a vacation for us. You are all great people and I didn’t have one real complaint (only suggestions)… except for that one guy… We all know who I’m talking about. Yeah, we get it, you killed someone, yay! *golfclap – but hey, at least he was having fun too… That’s what’s important ← that’s not necessarily a joke…
FITES crew, Thank you again. You are all wonderful people and know how to show a guy a good time ;)!

My group and I enjoy the whole event as it was a big improvement from last year.
More games were played, more prizes won, and all the tournaments were planned out with a good turnout of players.
Some of the problems I views were how the prizes were handled out. There were a lot of prizes and people; I view that you should have given out 1 prize per person regardless of the cost or size. More people would have been happy to get something instead of nothing. Plus the winner of a draw should get to pick the prize because that will allow people to get something that they want instead of someone winning a prize to a component that they have no need for and just going to sell in the end.
Plus like said already the raffle could have been put off for a later time to help extend the whole event.
But in the end it was a great lan and can’t wait for next years event.

So this was my first time at a FITES LAN, and I had a good time. I have some input for future events, but first let me bring up a few things that I thought were really good, and that I've never seen before at a LAN.
Trophies: these were very cool, the only other time I've seen anythig like it is the medals that PAX gives out to tournament/event winners... And these were much nicer. The dog tags were pretty neat too.
Admins: the fites admins I talked too were all very cool and open to suggestions for the tournaments (even last minute ones). The only other LAN I've been to where the admins are that good is the GXL, but I am slightly biased because I AM a gxl admin ;)
Intranet: the intranet site was very handy and was updated all the time which was a huge help.
Overlapping: I loved the fact that you guys didn't overlap any of the tournaments. There is nothing I hate more then going to a LAN wanting to play in several tournaments but I am forced to pick just one or two.
Now a few negative things...
Security: when I got there I walked up, gave my name and walked in. They didn't scan my ticket or even ask for it. They didn't take note of anything I was bringing in, and when I left after the L4D tournament they didn't even check my stuff. Every LAN Ive been to has some type of security and equipment registration. At GXL we take your picture and check the gear you are bringing in, we put that info on a sticker on the back of your LAN badge and if you try to leave with ANYTHING at any time the admin at the door checks to make sure it's actually yours. LPANE does something like this as well, and pax takes a list of your stuff and barcodes your gear to scan it in/out.
At fifes I could have walked up and said "hey I'm (insert name here)" walked in with an empty case, grabbed a few laptops, stuffed them in the empty tower and left (something like that happened at LPANES nor'easter in 09 I think. So yeah... Security is a must.
Seating: this was kind of a mess. Some people just sat wherever they wanted, others never reserved a seat. The worst thing was individuals who weren't playing with a team reserving a seat in the middle of a row. Too man people do that and it doesn't leave groups of seats open for teams to sit together.
That's about it for negative feedback... Now a few suggestions. Since we were just talking about it...
Seating: either have it be first come first serve, or you could try this... Rather then make teams for each event on the site, give players the chance to make a team, or join a team on registration. So players can select a team or list themselves as "no team/group". Once registration closes the admins can create a seating chart so that it's best laid out so teams sit together. Maybe putting names on the back of chairs on the first day to help People find their seats.
Prizes: more ways to win! You guys had a lot of prizes, but the only way anyone got one was in the raffle. No prizes were given out for tournaments. Most LANs (especially ones part of intels lanfest) give out some sort of prize for tournament winners. Now I'm not saying that the CSS winners should get all the i7s or anything, but maybe something. Got a bunch of $40 headsets? Prizes! If that's not doable then at the very least give anyone who wins a tournament or event extra raffle tickets!
Speaking of "events"... Most LANs do random unscheduled events for prizes. These are events that dont require a team and anyone can win. Something random like gun game or prophunt. Last person standing wins a video card or something.
Better tournament planing/settings: I can't really say how the settings were for some of the games, but the TF2 maplist was... Interesting lol. Maybe get some input from each games competitive scene on thr forums prior to the LAN to make sure the settings are correct.
Overall though it was a great LAN. I'll definitely attend it again!

First time at FITES.
Suggestions:
- I heard a staff member wondering on the microphone why more women don't come to FITES. I can tell you why. There are too many overgrown boys who think it's funny to yell about "raping" someone at the top of their lungs, or to scream "suck my dick" to someone who's five feet away. If you want more women to get involve in FITES (and gaming in general, someone needs to stand up and say that Crapty behavior like this is unacceptable.
- The tournaments need stricter and tighter schedules. Planning to have a team in the MW3 tournament? Your whole team needs to be up front at game time. Your whole team isn't there? Your team doesn't play. As soon as one team doesn't get to compete, everyone will realize that you are serious and people will be where they are supposed to be, when they are supposed to be.
- Having the door prizes on Saturday sort of left Sunday morning with nothing to do except pack up. Three wasn't any sort of "closing ceremony" feeling or any sort of feeling that there was any sort of official "end" to the event.
- Get rid of the DC++ server. Yeah, I know everyone wants to steal movies and trade porn. If individual players want to set up their own hubs, you can certainly feign ignorance. Having an official FITES hub for warez and pr0n? Bush league.
- Labeled seating. Couldn't find my precise seat and it was confusing.
Compliments:
- Staff were friendly and helpful and knowledgable. A-plus.
- Frequent announcements about food - super effective!
- Door prizes were plentiful and varied. Good selection of stuff.
- Swagbag was nice! More like that!
- Power and intern connectivity was flawless. Plugged in and I was good to go.
- Turning out the lights - excellent.
- The hotel itself was a good choice. Not too expensive, but nice enough that I actually enjoyed staying there.
All in all - great event and I can't wait for next year.

1. As a girl, I was giddy with joy when you handed out personalized name tags. Girls ♥ their accessories and it was a clever idea! Can girls have pink next year? :)
2. I thought the lights stayed on too much this time. I like that glowy, pretty, computers buzzing ambiance that the ballroom provides when the lights are down. (anyone else notice that the hanging lights resemble Minecraft wheat growing upside down? :) )
3. Tournaments/Times were a little disappointing - Sadly the L4D2 tourney started so late (1:30 am) that we had to bail. :'(
4. I agree that a big whiteboard or projector screen with detailed information about times and so forth, that can be changed as things pop up, would rock! It would be an easy way to clear up some of the confusion that sometimes arises when people are trying to plan sleeping a bit, or leaving to get some food, etc. Also would be a nice way to announce winners and so forth.
5. I agree with fndragon - I really missed the prize/raffle give away on Sunday morning - The Grand Finale. It was always a fun way to end the event, and a nice way to kind of say your goodbyes together while hoping you won something awesome. It did feel like changing it to Saturday shortened everything by a day. And it ate into time when a tournament could have been going on.
6. A note about seating - in response to Thrasher's post - If Fites started telling people where to sit instead of letting people pick where they wanted, I don't think it would go over well. i.e. - Some groups like to sit where they always sit - some people like to be close to a door - some people want to be in the back - it's all a matter of preference. Plus it's not a wedding, and trying to create a seating chart seems like it would just create a lot of unnecessary work for the FITES guys. It's not difficult to just pick a seat. And the FITES guys provide the seating chart at the end of each table. :)
7. Prizes and trophies this year rocked! Yay :)
8. I have never felt uncomfortable about leaving any of my gear at a FITES party. There is a cozy, friendly atmosphere, and everyone is always so nice. That's one of the reasons we all enjoy coming to this Lan Party so much. :)

I want to start off by saying i had a great time. I didn't really do much in the line of tournaments, but i did watch them. They seemed to go very well and seemed to be very well organized. the atmosphere was great in my opinion and the staff were great fun. I am DEFINITELY going to be at the one next year!!! Great jobs guys, lookin forward to next year!!!

The first thing i noticed was the simple ammout of how many people more attended this year then previous! it was incredible and me and my team of 8 had a great time and met some pretty awsome people... thats right i still love you vitality folks even tho you steam rolled us in BF3. The tournaments were SOOOOO much better and there was simply just more of them... noww for the negative :)
CS tournament at 10am... TOOOOO early everyone was alseep lol... my whole team overslept the tournament and were kinda bummed.. but thats our fault cuz were lazy and clearly didnt have enough redbull in our blood

The announcements/raffles could be done eaither more organized, or simply louder... i could barely hear the ticket numbers being called and i didnt even realize the raffle started due to being in the middle of a game for the first 20 minutes of it. Also i think the fact that you gave away an entire PC is sweet... BUT there was like 10 things in that package.. you could have broken those two things up into countless people winning individual things.
Also seating... MY GOD THE SEATING. me and my team registered 8 seats in a row. three people were forced to up and move to the other side while the other 5 of us were put literally ontop of one another(thank god one had a laptop or it would have never worked) because you had 3 people scheduled to sit on a table for 2. We had all our seats setup but then a team of 5 walked up on us out of no where and we were forced to move about. Some people feel that when they come to a lan they get 10 feet to themselves. You do not, and dont intentionally spread yourself so that you have room forcing others to sit ontop of other players.
Next, the people there... best in the entire lan community. due to my seating i was forced to sit in the middle of two tables and the guy next too me(never met him before) actually spread out his gaming mat for me... to cover the metal edges.. holy Crap that guy saved me SOOO much frustration and that was prob one of the nicest things ive seen done at a lan. Also just the general halariousness(yeap just made that word up) of the others around me was astounding. The king, literally made my lan the funniest experience of my life and i feel you needed a shoutout.
Next DWRoelands, this is aimed at you. Lan parties are places to go and scream things such as this. Ive been at sensored lans before were if you say Crap you get a warning... Thats simple rediculous. everyone there is an adult and the funny playfull Crap talking is what makes the experience of a lan great. the F-bomb i understand not really being workable but things like screaming "rape"... really if you cant take that word you dont belong at a lan party, its a video game and people will say the word. Clearly noone is getting raped at a lan party...
But on a better note, Fites was the best its been yet. You guys did an incredible job with everything and despite my small grievences it was fantastic! I have a group of about 15 guys lined up raving for next year... maybe you could do 2 a year? i had a guy take an 11 hour train ride to get there and the moment he got home he was raving on skype about how he couldnt wait to go back... again a Fantastic job with the whole lan. you guys are my lan gods!

I tried for the past couple days to come up with a few suggestions. Honestly its all a stretch. I couldnt really think of anything major.
-First being seating. And this has more to do with the attendees than it does the staff. I really dont know how difficult it is to follow directions. Pick your seat on the intranet then sit at it when you get to the event. Sitting in someone elses seat on purpose is outright disrespectful. Accidentally sitting in someones seat because you genuinely didnt know there was assigned seats and then making a big deal out of it when asked to move is, again, outright disrespectful. We had a guy drop out at the last second who MIGHT have came. Due to people switching seats, had he came he wouldnt have had a seat. Good thing he didnt make it. I'm sure the staff would have done a good job to accomodate us in some fashion, but it shouldnt have even gotten to that. PAY ATTENTION AND FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS!
-Second being Prize drawing. I share the same feeling about moving it to Saturday evening. One person above said they wish there would have been some kind of closing ceremony. With the prize drawings usually on Sunday morning, it kind of was the closing ceremony in past years. It also made everyone stay for the entire event. I noticed alot of people (including us) packed up the night before.
-Third - This goes to Munich and DWRoelands. I understand where both of you are coming from in regards to outbursts/celebrations. The key is to do it in moderation, and to still be mindful of your surroundings. When we won the BF3 tourney out team made a point to NOT yell like lunatics, to NOT shout WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! at the top of our lungs every time we got a kill. Nobody is expecting anyone to act like they're in a church, but it would be nice to not have people who didnt act like the 13 year old kids we all make fun of from Xbox live.
FITES has become more of a social event than it has a gaming event for me. Especially with trying to get something off the ground here in Philly. I only played a little UT3 when we first got there, and pretty much Battlefield3 the remainder of the time. This is NOT in any part to the way the even is run. Its just how I tend to utilize the event these days.
The only thing I wish you guys would really do is have MOAR events, and BIGGER ones. But from my understanding, thats in the works, and I'm looking forward to it.

Not directed toward you at all. I didnt even noticed any yelling from your team after the first round of the BF3 tournament. You guys were quite classy even after winning a round by 2 tickets. I was crapping my pants just WATCHING over Czar and Jack's shoulders. I could only imagine what was going through your team's heads! It was insane.
I was talking about some one/thing completely different, as I'm sure DWRoelands was as well.

Peeps need to understand there is a Webster definition and the urban dictionary definition. A lot of gamers first thought goes to the urban, but most women I know go Webster on that word.

To be honest, I highly doubt that is the reason why more women do not come to lans. I think it's because the ratio of hardcore male to women gamers is somewhere around 50:1. If you have a problem with someone saying they got raped in a game when the connotation is them getting 'rolled'...that's your hangup. It's been used in the gamer world for many a year now by men and women.
As far as censoring attendees...that's not gonna happen unless under extreme circumstances. Such as: direct threats and sincere insults that are racial or threatening in manner.

We had the fans three lans ago and were unable to get them last year but no one complained so we didn't get them for this year :) We'll work to get them for next year though.

A closing ceremony with the prize raffle would have improve the event 100%.
It would have extend the event till Sunday morning as some people packed up as soon as the raffle was over.
It would give an extra prize to the winners of the tournaments by letting them stand front to the whole lan and showing who won
It would have made a good feeling end to the lan (As all things should begin and end on a high note)

Plus I think the temperature was fine throughout the event not too hot or cold
About the harsh language, I was sitting near 2 woman during the lan and they seem to encourage the language being said.
So I don't think its scary any woman away. But maybe those people are used to gamer talk

Where were the fans this year?? Saturday night it got EXTREMELY hot in there.

sunday cleanup i noticed someone(Jackofalltrades) taped the air vents closed above him. Im sure it was freezing in his seat and that may have been why it got hot saturday night. We always talk about getting a few fans together for the event to circulate air but after last year it wasnt too bad so we didnt have anything for this year. We'll get something together for our next event there for sure!

Honestly, it felt more like the entire system was turned off for a while during that overnight. Cardboard to redirect the air drop would be better overall than a complete tape off. I am going to make a note to bring some empty boxes we could use for that and propping up peeps seats when legs explode! : )

Finally have enough time and energy to post here. My sleep schedule got all jacked up thanks to (fites) you guys and I'm at the point where I'm not dropping dead the instant I walk back into my apartment after either/both of my martial arts classes and then working for 8 hours.
First, I have to agree with Decepticon.
To be honest, I highly doubt that is the reason why more women do not come to lans. I think it's because the ratio of hardcore male to women gamers is somewhere around 50:1. If you have a problem with someone saying they got raped in a game when the connotation is them getting 'rolled'...that's your hangup. It's been used in the gamer world for many a year now by men and women.
As far as censoring attendees...that's not gonna happen unless under extreme circumstances. Such as: direct threats and sincere insults that are racial or threatening in manner.
You know what? Both my sister and my girlfriend wanted to come to this year's event. They couldn't, because one has a child under 2 y/o to watch and the other was crazy sick. Both have had rather Crapty times in their lives, but if one (who didn't know their personal pasts) were to start making dead baby or rape jokes, they would take it in stride. They wouldn't let petty words stop them from having a good time because they'd know that the jokes were not personally aimed at them with the intent to make them feel bad. They know it's a gaming event and that trash-talking is part of the game, especially when it's competitive. Crap, they'd throw the insult right back if they managed to get so much as a single killshot. It's not the words or the "insults" or the tasteless jokes that keep people away from yearly events like this, it's that either a) those types of women that have a competitive gamer streak just aren't very plentiful around here and/or willing to make the trip, or b) those types of women just haven't heard of fites yet.
And the censoring bit. Again, gamer trash-talk. Anything pertaining to that type of "language" is pervasive throughout all sports and/or competitive activities. It's the intent that matters. Also, the RICFLAIRWOOOOOOOO guy? Unexpected and annoying at first, but by the end of the first 1/4 of the whole event.... sure, rock on with your bad self. It's a once-a-year event where everyone is sitting down like good little boys and girls that're staring at their monitors like so many korean starcraft kids, so outbursts like that are fine. Go on, have fun, just keep mind that if someone asks you to tone it down, be polite and do so. Otherwise, I dig it.
Now to feedback (good and bad):
1. Keep giveaways until sunday morning. I had about a 3-4 hour nap and when I woke up between 4-5am sunday morning, people we gone. WTF. "Force" people to stay and play pick up games. That's what we're here for. If they want to leave, it's on their head, but they'll miss out on something cool.
2. Vendor outside the door. YUM FOOD! She sold it to me for cheap saturday night because she was getting ready to trash it. 3 plates of food for about $6. Goddamn right. Might want to consider a disclaimer of sorts on the main page next year to remind people to carry about $20 in cash on them for the vendor so they can buy stuff whenever they want and not have to worry about getting hit with atm fees from the machine upstairs.
3. No Street Fighter 4 tournament. Are tourneys decided by fites or by gamestop or are they a collaboration? I was looking forward to another fites SF4 battle (one of the few things that I really look forward to), especially with people using Arcade Edition characters. I sincerely hope that Street Fighter X Tekken, which comes out march 6th this year, is going to be on the list for tourney action next year.
4. DC++ server. Keep it going. It doesn't interfere with all the gaming and is something neat to peruse through when you need/want a break and just want to wind down with a video and a drink.
5. Prizes, PRIZES, PRUH-ZIZES! Goddamn, son. That's all I have to say about that.
6. Since fites is selling shirts, I can totally get my sister (and those of you who shared her pics on dc++ know exactly what I mean) to model some shirts or something at a future event. Bonus would be that she could share those on SG and who knows, might even be able to get MORE attendees for future events!
....but that's just this little bear's opinion.

The event, staff, and sponsors were effin great. The gamespot console room was pretty awesome as well. It was my first time coming to the FITES LAN this year, and I must say that I had a lot of fun! I've been going to LANs across the east coast for the past two or three years, and I think that FITEs was probably one of the best I went to that was organized by a relatively small group.
Things that were awesome
trophies for tournaments
The fact that you guys went out of your way to get trophies made was pretty awesome. The only other LAN/tournament I've seen give out trophies or medals was PAX east; so this was pretty awesome with regard to how small your operation was.
custom dog tags
I've never once seen a LAN give out custom name tags/dog tags before. I was ridiculously excited when I found out about it. It was just too awesome.
tournaments
I loved the fact that you guys really went out of your way to get everyone who signed up to play in the tournaments to actually play (this is in terms of letting them finish other tournaments and whatnot). I've seen a lot of LAN where teams just get disqualified if they can't play a match on time. I loved being able to play in (almost) all the tournaments.
admins
The way the admins handled everything was phenomenal. Every interaction I had with an admin was great. I loved the fact that every admin was accessible, and accommodating.
Things that weren't so awesome
Security
This was probably the BIGGEST thing I had a problem with at the LAN. Although -I'm pretty sure- nothing was stolen, it didn't seem like FITES had any means or plans for preventing people from actually stealing anything. At every LAN I've been to the first thing the admins do when you check in is check what stuff you're bringing into the LAN (i.e. what your hardware/computer stuff looks like, what's the make/model, etc.). All of that stuff is written down for when you leave the LAN and they check to see that you have all the stuff that's yours.
To go along with this, they also usually have is a person/people at the door at all times watching what goes in and out of the LAN, making sure no-one is taking stuff out that isn't actually theirs. You guys could have at least done this.
One step further with that, I've seen LAN's set a time up where nothing is allowed to leave the LAN center. So when it's night time (from maybe 11PM - 8AM) and most people are asleep, no one can go around taking stuff and bringing it back to their car.
Luckily nothing got stolen at this LAN though, I just think it'd be best if you guys had some means of stopping it before something does get stolen at one of these LANs
tournament prizes / small raffle prizes
It was kinda lame that the only prizes given out for the tournaments were the trophies. Even though the trophies were pretty awesome, I would have liked to have seen or gotten something with a computer related function. My disappointment was only amplified more-so when the prize I won in the raffle was minuscule in comparison to the other prizes.
Frankly, I think it would have been a better idea to have simply given away the smaller raffle prizes to the tournament winners, and then raffled off the really nice stuff.
Tables in center section/ section 5
I noticed that the tables in that section were smaller than those in the others sections. So much so, that my computer's fans were blowing into the computer of the guy across from me.
general excitement energy of Admins and Host
I really wish there was a lot more rallying and yelling done by the FITES admins/group at this LAN. There are a lot of ways to make things more exciting, and I didn't really see any of it. Apart from myself shouting profanities across the room during competitions, I didn't really feel like there was any excitement among LAN participants, let alone any confidence or interest in getting excited.

Some of the problems I views were how the prizes were handled out. There were a lot of prizes and people; I view that you should have given out 1 prize per person regardless of the cost or size. More people would have been happy to get something instead of nothing. Plus the winner of a draw should get to pick the prize because that will allow people to get something that they want instead of someone winning a prize to a component that they have no need for and just going to sell in the end.
Hows that 50% off coupon treating you? I'll be glad to take it off your hands!

I walked up and gave the kid the mouse. I knew I didn't need it, and I am not selfish enough to sell it when I had the opportunity to make some one elses day/event a little better.

The dad walked up to me a little later and handed me his card. I am keeping that one back pocket just in case the g-men call. Lets just say I am glad I made a good impression on that particular individual.
